Prodlužování studia na vysokých školách v ČR a vliv poplatků za prodlužování studia / Duration of university studies in the Czech Republic and the effect of fees for excessive study duration

Fliegl, Tomáš January 2016 (has links)
Topic of the thesis is the duration of studies at universities in the Czech Republic and the effect of fees for excessive study duration on the duration of studies. It focuses on undergraduate programs at public universities, for which the fees are applicable. Author exploits data from the national student register and data on the amount of fees from most Czech universities to build a regression model. Awareness of students on the fees policy was determined by questionnaire for participants of a widely used admission test (National Comparative Test Scio). It has been found, that at the average, 41% of students extended nominal length of study program before completing it, with highest share observed in humanities. About 10% of students extended the nominal length of study by more than one year. Fees apply to one-fifth of the students, half of them because their unsuccessful studies had been attributed to their actual length of study. The results show that time to degree is only insignificantly related to the potential amount of the fee; only in the case of students of one public university we have found mild relationship and CZK 1,000 fee increase should shorten time to degree by 6 days. Influence on the length of unsuccessful studies is more pronounced and represents 10 to 90 days per CZK 1,000. Low effect...

Hledání identity v kontextu tzv. plantážnické paměti v povídkách Eudory Weltyové / The Quest for Identity within the Reality of Plantation Memory in Eudora Welty's Short Fiction

Plicková, Michaela January 2015 (has links)
The present MA thesis discusses Eudora Welty's short fiction and the author's engagement with the plantation memory. The introductory chapter defines the concept of plantation memory as a flux of the normative plantation binaries, the plantation mythology obscuring the ante-bellum Southern reality, the linguistic and phenomenal evidence of the prevailing oppression, and the ability of the text and its creator to subvert the official narratives and to liberate the individuals' silenced voices. Applying an interdisciplinary approach, the thesis examines the processes in which the particular selves are confronted with the plantation order and in which their identities are consolidated, either resisting or crumbling under the social pressure. The three analytical chapters of the thesis discuss nine of Welty's short stories that were selected from The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty on the basis of the typology and criteria outlined in the introduction. Without claiming that the nine stories present the sum of Welty's artistic achievement, the texts attempt to demonstrate general tendencies and narrative strategies that the author applies in her short fiction, writing about and within the plantation memory. The selection includes as many different texts as possible and contains three stories and three...

Princip loajality v právu EU / The Principle of Loyalty in EU law

Kruliš, Kryštof January 2017 (has links)
This PhD thesis seeks to establish a multi-layered definition of the principle of loyal cooperation in EU law in its current form. It focuses on four fundamental ways of describing this principle. The first one is a linguistic analysis of the term "principle of loyal cooperation" itself. The thesis looks at its equivalents in all official languages of the EU and applies various linguistic (etymology) and non-linguistic research tools and findings from the study of history, social psychology and philosophy to understand and delimit the principle of loyal cooperation in EU law. In a second step, the principle is examined at three separate levels. At the first level the situation and significance of the actors bound by loyalty is explored. At the second level the paper focuses on the differences between the principle of loyal cooperation, the way commitments are met in international public law, and the mechanisms of ensuring loyalty in countries with a federal structure. Lastly, the third level of analysis looks into the ways the principle of loyal cooperation and its operation vary according to the area of competence. Keywords: principle of sincere cooperation, European Union law, theory of federalism, European studies

Formování hierarchie v cosplayerské komunitě / Hierarchy formation in the cosplay community

Králová, Monika January 2019 (has links)
The popularity of wearing costumes and masks has a long tradition. The phenomenon called cosplay began to be discussed for the first time in the 1980s. Cosplayers are fans of media content that not only wear costumes, but they also try to imitate the character's character on festivals. Some individuals, thanks to their activity, become celebrities themselves within the community. Fans may not always be just a passive group of recipients of media content. This thesis focuses on how these positions can be achieved and how the hierarchy is shaped in the Czech cosplay community. The theoretical framework is based on findings of fan studies. Methods used for data collection include participant observation and semi-structured interviews. The timeframe for data collection is the period from May 2018 to October 2018. For analysis were used the grounded theory principles, namely open and axial coding. The output is a paradigmatic model. This research has brought new information related to the topic of hierarchy in fan communities. Not only has the high activity of the individuals but also the social ties had an influence on hierarchy formation. This work also reflected the Czech cosplay community.
