Tělo hudby / The Body of Music

Galuška, Ondřej January 2012 (has links)
The Body of Music examines in what sense we can and must ascribe some sort of a body to music, which has traditionally been considered the most ideal and metaphysical of arts, and it seeks to analyze different aspects of corporeality in music. Its aim is to show that the body of music cannot be reduced to mere physical vibrations or simply to the condition sine qua non of musical experience. The body is always somehow active in music, it co-creates it, inspires it, it forms its significance or signifiance. Simultaneously it is itself transformed by music, it is played out in and through music. First, the body becomes apparent when we look at music as a process and activity rather than as a product. The body of a musician is that of a perpetual learner, it transforms itself, it is forced to think by itself and while "performing" music it has to breathe life into it, actualize it. Second, confronted with the process of learning and a musical instrument we come across the body of sound: something like the obstinacy of the material, irreducible to the intelligible strata of the musical sound. Sound is a complex phenomenon, whose material layer is itself productive of meaning. Third, there is the body of the listener, which is similar to that of the musician in that it too has to "perform", compose the music....

Plastická krása - tělo v kontextu estetické chirurgie / Plastic beauty - the body within the frame of aesthetic surgery

Koktová, Eva January 2011 (has links)
In Czech Republic, aesthetic plastic surgery experiences a boom. By offering body modification it also contributes to a change in perception of the body and physicality of a contemporary man in a certain way. In this dissertation I have attempted to view aesthetic plastic surgery as an institution to which three different paths lead - the path of a client, the path of a physician and the path of promotion. I have approached the topic through the interviews with people who have personal experience with aesthetic surgery. Foremost I was interested in what their individual experience with the body was, what brought them to the decision to have their body surgically modified and what was the role of contemporary culture which ceaselessly produces idealized images of a human body in this decision. To my research I have added interviews with physicians who practice at clinics of aesthetic medicine together with managers of these clinics who take care of the promotion. Through their bodies people express their personality, they strive to reach an ideal harmony and even a minor modification of appearance may significantly help them to achieve this. The body has become a project and plastic surgery a tool how to win control over it - despite the signs of aging, maternity and congenital defects.

Kyborgové v reklamě na mobilní telefony / Cyborgs in Advertising on Mobile Phones

Loudová, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
The thesis deals with representation of cyborgs in advertising on mobile phones from Apple and Samsung. The aim is to show how this theoretical concept - a cyborg as human in intimate relationship with technology - is depicted in advertising. The concept of the work deals with the origin of the term cyborg, its development and its display in art, literature, movies and in works in field of humanities. When examining cyborgs, we use notes from philosophers and science historians, D. Haraway, K. Hayles, A. Clark, W. Mitchell. Their concept of the cyborg is more about mental rather than physical connection to the machine. Here, the mobile phone is used as an extension of people's skills, mental and physical, even without having the device implanted into their body. It corresponds to the idea of human as a cyborg, because the phone as a technology and its user creates a single being, which is now part human part machine. For theoretical base, papers on visual communication, advertising and semiotics were used. This thesis intends to defend the idea of humans as cyborgs and to show how advertisements display relationship between humans and technology, and how new positions of power are created in this ideological environment.

Krize identity z pohledu transgender / Identity crisis from transgender's perspective

Burdová, Veronika January 2022 (has links)
The work aims to explore the identity of transgender on the basis of gender and trans studies. The problem is formulated here as an identity crisis, which is currently gaining more and more response. The focus of the crisis is the very situation in trans-politics, stimulated by conflicting feelings stemming from the consequences of Judith Butler's performative theory of gender, whose work has become the founding text of queer theory. Opposition is forming in this crisis, with the transgender identity facing one another as one that supports Butler's conclusions, and the transgender (subordinated to the transgender identity) side, whose subjective experience of body forces to criticize performativity and opens up thus the question of the redefinition of essentialism. The aim of this work is to examine the current crisis of identity from the perspective of trans studies with emphasis on the issue of the body, as a determining aspect of the identification of oneself and others as male or female identity. The starting point will be Judith Butler's grasp of the subject of corporeality and analysis of the critique of her approach from from the perspectives of gender and trans studies. The conclusions of this critique should outline new ways of capturing and preserving gender identity. KEYWRODS Gender,...

Nemoc jako příležitost k péči a pozornosti / Illess as the opportunity to care and consideration

Kalábová, Helena January 2009 (has links)
The study called ILLESS AS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CARE AND CONSIDERATION Is fenomenologically focused on a variety of seeing the world affected by an illness. Bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of illness is generally understood as the integration of the figures concerning body, mind and socially-spiritual conditions. The solution is arranged in a multi-feature attitude to the therapy, involving bodywork and psychotherapy in terms of mindcare aiming to reach recovering changes, respectively metamorphosis. The basis is found in respect to the body-organism as a self-organizing system creating its own world coming from self-relating autopoiesis. Showing respect to patients brings unexpected theoretical and therapeutical options, concerning that issue there is the contraversion of traditional kartezian western thinking with radical contructivism, which as a new-age empirically advenced alternative of scientific positivism is apparently not fully practised in medicine nowadays. Illnes is seen as disaretation-exasperation,disbalance.Treatment in terms of techne on kartezian thesis puts emphasis on total organism rehabilitation but health in terms of physis cannot be brought back anymore.
