This diploma thesis describes the origin and development of dance in New York, its culture and the possibilities of dancing in one of the most artistic cities of the United States. The aim of my study was to find out what forms of dance appeared in the New York environment and how they influenced the development of dance in this area. The diploma thesis deals with historical events and personalities who participated in the development of dance art. The content of the thesis includes the current dance scene and the possibilities of studying dance in New York. The fact that there is no comprehensive study in the Czech Republic on this issue has become a stimulus for the creation this thesis.

The doctoral thesis ?Eating Disorders in Dance Environment?treats of specific factors that act in dance environment and increase the risk of eating disorders among dancers. Information for this thesis was obtained not only from specialized references but even form a survey made among dancers and teachers. The target of this thesis is to describe the risk factors in dance environment and to suggest an optimization of the current situation. The outcomes of this thesis are two texts dedicated to dance teachers. Teachers were found to be the factor, which increases the risk of eating disorders among dancers the most of all other factors. The first text describes how to recognize an eating disorder at student and how to act in this situation. The second text shows to teachers, what they can do to reduce the risk of developing even more cases of eating disorders among dancers.

This thesis deals with the use of dancers´ body and its abilities by choreographers. The work is based not only on the study of literature (theoretical and practical part) but also on the research, which was part of the work carried out (questionnaire for dancers and choreographers). The aim is to describe what is the vision of the dancing body in the contemporary world. Is a relatively advanced age of a dancer an advantage or disadvantage on stage? The question is dealt with in terms of physical parameters, aesthetics, attractiveness for dancers and choreographers. At the same time this work is about dance medicine as a means of prevention, which can help prevent accidents in the choreographic rehearsals and contribute to the conscious use of physical possibilities of bodies of the dancers. Do the choreographers use bodies of the dancers primarily in terms of age and physical or mental abilities fully?

In my masters thesis I would like to discuss all of Allegro's elements by providing detailed descriptions and methodical knowledge, which is an integral theory of education during 8 years within a dance academy. All information gathered is from the most known methodical books of recognized classical dance teachers. This phase of education includes development and enrichment of battu, batteries and turn about's elements a new jumps. This dissertation should therefore be used as remedial brochure for methodical teaching instruction.

The topic of this diploma thesis is Dance education of preschool hyperactive children. Goal of research is to describe teaching of hyperactive children especially dance lessons. There is described Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the first part of thesis. There is written about special needs of children with ADHD focused on education. Second part is focused on practical dance lesson of ADHD children. There is described example dance lesson based on theory and practical experience of experts. The result of research is that supply of special lessons is very limited and it is big pity. In the diploma thesis was recognized that the education with special program should help to children with ADHD and it can be good supplement to standard medical therapy.

Summary In my master thesis I focused on work with a group of performers. I tried to describe this topic from a dance teacher´s point of view who both respects the dance techniques and searches the way of developing the dancer to be prepared for his professional carreer in which he is often a member of a group. In my research I came to several important conclusions which I included in the particular chapters. I became aware of the importance of motor skills and perception, the meaning of dance improvisation and I also mentioned the problematics of teacher and performer´s forming of personality. I applied my theoretic conclusions in a practical examination as written in the last chapter.

The main aim of my work is based on these exercises prepare students to better perform each exercise, with regard to the correct anatomical and kinesiological knowledge. I would also like to take this technology could bring not only to students of conservatories, but also to the general public dance.

First part of the thesis is overlooking over historical development of general management, recent theories, outputs and structural division of basic management tasks and functions. The thesis seeks to emphasize a knowledge, an experience, a fact of learning from own or others mistakes and the most useful principles that helped pioneers in other fields to achieve their success. Further it pursues management of performing arts; it analyzes its issues, its importance for artists and the system of dividing the management positions in the theatre. Last part of thesis describes a structural analysis of management responsibilities that are necessary needed to gain its successful realization of business/artistic purpose. It is a scheme built on the knowledge obtained by studying the theories of general, cultural and performing arts management and practical experience of the author. The scheme primarily focuses on the areas of planning, production, marketing and financial support of the implemented project.

This diploma thesis is focused on three dance conservatories located in the heart of Czech Republic´s capital city Prague, founded after the year 1989. The three dance conservatories of focus are the Duncan Centre Conservatory, Dance Center Prague and Dance Conservatory of Ivo Váňa - Psota in Prague. All of these conservatories provide both full secondary education, and higher secondary education in dance; however, what makes them different is their unique teaching technique. The means by which they teach, how they apply different ways, forms and styles to shape the incoming professional czech dancer, are precisely the main points covered in this research. The thesis also contains the chacteristics, history, education programme and examples of the most important dance artists in the history of these conservatories. In conclusion, are summarized samples of anonymous questionnaries for students and graduates of these schools.

This diploma thesis has two basic parts – theoretic and practical. The first part describes historic origin and evolution of form called character dance but also there are described even specifications of chosen folk dances of foreign nations. The second part of thesis tries to create basic and initial structure for dance class in elementary art school. It includes methodic description of singular dance elements and steps of national dances which is character dance composite – exercices at the barre and centre work. Diploma thesis also contains a suggestion for modification of school educational plan which describes a basic form of education and required class exams in subject called Character dance for elementary art school.
