A pesquisa se justifica na medida em que a realização do curso de mestrado tem o sentido de possibilitar ao professor uma melhor capacitação profissional e uma visão de conhecimento que possibilite o incentivo à pesquisa em sala de aula, tendo em vista que os professores têm uma contribuição crucial para preparar os jovens, não só para encarar o futuro com confiança, mas para construí-lo de maneira determinada e responsável. A pesquisa teve como sustentação teorias que tratam da formação de professor, saberes docentes, desenvolvimento profissional e identidade profissional.
