<p>Multiprofessional teams is a common way of organizing the work in rehabilitation</p><p>medicine clinics. Team members are usually physicians, physiotherapists, occupational</p><p>therapists, counselors and nurses where the counselor is the only one from the psycho-</p><p>social discipline. Team care interventions are provided from a holistic perspective in</p><p>which the patient's physical, psychological and social rehabilitation is taken into</p><p>consideration. The meetings between the professional team and patient have the main</p><p>purpose to increase patient participation. The aim of the study is to observe and analyze</p><p>communication between the professionals, the patient and their relatives during team</p><p>meetings. The purpose is specified into two questions; “how is the word divided between</p><p>the participants?” and “which area of knowledge is dominant?”. Another focal point is</p><p>how and to what extent the social work is noticeable. The study has a qualitative</p><p>approach and is based on four video observations.  The analyze is based on</p><p>communicational- and role theory. The results shows that the strong medical context</p><p>characterize the meetings and focus of the meeting is on the physical aspects of</p><p>rehabilitation. The counselor and the social work has a relatively small presence</p><p>compared to other professions. Further implication is that the team professionals use a</p><p>variety of communication techniques to increase patient participation.</p>
