The Convergance of Arcadia

Duncan, John 01 January 2016 (has links)
The Convergence of Arcadia is a story about people losing things. Stretching from the Jim Crow South, the Korean War, New York City and central Kentucky circa 1980, this story follows a one armed man who has given up on life, a sheriff haunted by his past, a Korean War veteran with a terrible secret and a family broken from suicide. The Convergence of Arcadia follows three families as their fates are inextricably wove together in the tradition of Southern Gothic literature.

ROCKET MOTOR PLUME EFFECTS ON TM SIGNALS - MODEL CORROBORATION

Johnston, Jerry W., LaPoint, Steve 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 28-31, 1996 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / This paper presents the interim results of an effort to corroborate analytic model predictions of the effects of rocket motor plume on telemetry signal RF propagation. When space is available, telemetry receiving stations are purposely positioned to be outside the region of a rocket motor's plume interaction with the RF path; therefore, little historical data has been available to corroborate model predictions for specific rocket motor types and altitudes. RF signal strength data was collected during the flight of HERA target missile by White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) using a transportable telemetry receiving site specifically positioned to be within the rocket plume region of influence at intermediate altitudes. The collected data was analyzed and compared to an RF plume attenuation model developed for pre-mission predictions. This work was directed by the US Army Kwajalein Atoll (USAKA)/ Kwajalein Missile Range (KMR) Safety Division.

Advanced Telemetry Tracking System for High Dynamic Targets

Minschwaner, Nathan, Leide, Nelson Paiva Oliveira 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2015 Conference Proceedings / The Fifty-First Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 26-29, 2015 / Bally's Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV / A new advanced 2.4 meter telemetry tracking antenna system allows for successful autotracking of high dynamic targets. The system is designed to work at C, S, and L bands. One of these systems at L/S-band was recently implemented and tested in the field. The testing included tracking aircraft during maneuvers such as rolls, spins, and antenna tower fly-by at high rates of speed. This paper examines test results and some of the features of the new system that allow for continuous tracking.

Wireless Local Area Network for Data Telemetry from Fast Moving Nodes

Bamberger, Robert J., Barrett, George R., Nichols, Robert A., Burbank, Jack L., Lauss, Mark H. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 21, 2002 / Town & Country Hotel and Conference Center, San Diego, California / A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) based system called 2-Way Robust Acquisition of Data (2-RAD) is being developed to telemeter data from a number of fast moving airborne platforms to ground collection points distributed over a large test range. The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) is analyzing a 2-RAD prototype currently in operation at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) that uses an IEEE 802.11b WLAN infrastructure. Preliminary analysis efforts at JHU/APL indicate that the Doppler shift from fast movers, and the system radio link margin, do not preclude IEEE 802.11b from being used for 2 -RAD.

THE FLEXIBLE INTEROPERABLE TRANSCEIVER DATA LINK STANDARD - A SOLUTION FOR INTEROPERABILITY AND SPECTRAL EFFICIENCY FOR THE T&E AND TRAINING RANGES

Meadows, Eddie M., Hill, Terrance J. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 22-25, 2001 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The greatest threat to the DOD Test and Training Test Centers is the loss of the Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum used in transmitting digital data generated by the test instrumentation during the evaluation of weapon systems. The T&E ranges use the RF spectrum for data generated by status reporting, GPS/TSPI, telemetry, target control, range safety, situational awareness, video, voice communication, etc. In the past the ranges developed their data links independently of one another. The Flexible Interoperable Transceiver (FIT) Data Link Standard identifies protocols and technology that provides for interoperability and spectral efficiency, and can be applied to most RF transmission requirements at the test ranges and training centers.

Web manifestations of knowledge-based innovation systems in the UK

Stuart, David January 2008 (has links)
Innovation is widely recognised as essential to the modern economy. The term knowledgebased innovation system has been used to refer to innovation systems which recognise the importance of an economy’s knowledge base and the efficient interactions between important actors from the different sectors of society. Such interactions are thought to enable greater innovation by the system as a whole. Whilst it may not be possible to fully understand all the complex relationships involved within knowledge-based innovation systems, within the field of informetrics bibliometric methodologies have emerged that allows us to analyse some of the relationships that contribute to the innovation process. However, due to the limitations in traditional bibliometric sources it is important to investigate new potential sources of information. The web is one such source. This thesis documents an investigation into the potential of the web to provide information about knowledge-based innovation systems in the United Kingdom. Within this thesis the link analysis methodologies that have previously been successfully applied to investigations of the academic community (Thelwall, 2004a) are applied to organisations from different sections of society to determine whether link analysis of the web can provide a new source of information about knowledge-based innovation systems in the UK. This study makes the case that data may be collected ethically to provide information about the interconnections between web sites of various different sizes and from within different sectors of society, that there are significant differences in the linking practices of web sites within different sectors, and that reciprocal links provide a better indication of collaboration than uni-directional web links. Most importantly the study shows that the web provides new information about the relationships between organisations, rather than just a repetition of the same information from an alternative source. Whilst the study has shown that there is a lot of potential for the web as a source of information on knowledge-based innovation systems, the same richness that makes it such a potentially useful source makes applications of large scale studies very labour intensive.

在Cordial圖上的一些運算子 / Some operatiors on cordial graph

洪國銘 Unknown Date (has links)
論文摘要 在離散數學的領域中有一熱門的分支一圖學論就是將問題以圖形的觀念來研究,其中優美圖問題是由來已久,尤其是在太空訊息的接收,雷達站之設立位置等科學性的研究中廣泛的被討論,我們企圖將優美圖的必要條件cordial 圖作適當的推展以這算子為架構將圖形類別視為運算元則 { (運算元) ,運算子} ===新圖形 結合將可得到新的圓形使得新圖形是cordial 圖這樣一來就可製造出更多更複雄史實用的cordial 圖,有cordial 圖才有可能是優美圖. 研究之初我們收集有關優美圖的論文想知道一些優美圖標法與尚未解決的圖形,和由優美圖衍生出的特殊圖形,我們整理得到壹拾貳大類這些類別的圖形在簡單的情形時已有了不錯的結論,但是稍為複雜或條件放鬆則結果說不得而知,由於優美國的重要及熱門迫使我們不得不有這種動機嘗試將已無圓形配和圓形運算子而得到複雜的圖形式得到新類別的圓形並企圖使新圖形式複雜圖形是cordial 圖在論文中,我們找到一些還算子例如link , corona, join , bridge and newcorona 並且導出一些結果. / Abstract Suppose G is a graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G). Consider a labeling f: V(G) → { 0, 1} where f induces an edge-labeling i*: E(G) -+ {0,1} defined by f*(uv) = I f(u) - f(v) I for each edge uv E E( G). Let V f(i) be the set of vertices v of G with f( v)=i, and Ef(i) be the set of edges uv with f*(uv)=i. The cardinalities of Yf(i) and Ef(i) are denoted by vf(i) and ef(i), respectively. A labeling f of a graph is cordial if Ivf (0)-vf (1) ? I and lef(0)- ef(1)?1. A graph G is cordial if it has a: cordial labeling. In this paper, we will study some operators such as link (0), corona( *), join(+), bridge (?), and newcorona( ?), and derive some results on cordial graphs.
