The Metzincins are a superfamily of zinc-dependent endopeptidases associated with the regulation of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Their members include A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Motifs (ADAMTSs), A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinases (ADAMs), and the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Metzincins exhibit diverse functions associated with both physiological and pathological states that include the proteolytic degradation of the ECM, regulation of various growth factors, cell surface receptors, and chemokines, and mediation of biological functions such as extravasation, survival, and proliferation. In pathological conditions such as cancer associated with chronic inflammation and multiple sclerosis associated with neurodegeneration, dysregulation of Metzincin activities are a hallmark of disease progression and severity. The present work aims to develop Aluminium metal matrix composites by incorporating of reinforcements such that combination of best properties could be achieved. The metal base was selected was Aluminium 6082 and it is reinforced with varying volume percentage of Alumina oxide and Fly ash. These AMC were developed by using stir casting technique, in which predetermined reinforcement is added to the molten matrix is stirred well to obtain desired castings. These castings were studied for behaviour and subjected to mechanical testing to study the effects of various reinforcements. The Rockwell hardness and tensile tests revealed that composite with 7.5 % Al2O3 5% Fly ash shows highest hardness value of 69 HRB and 100.370 N/mm2, which is better than base alloy as well as impact is more without reinforcement ratio shows highest impact strength value 9 joules. Highly reinforced composites show higher variations due to the agglomeration of particles.

Within population biology, models are often analyzed for the net reproduction number or other generalized target reproduction numbers, which describe the growth or decline of the population based on specific mechanisms. This is useful in determining the strength and efficiency of control measures for inhibiting or enhancing population growth. The literature contains many algebraic and combinatorial approaches for deriving the net reproduction number and generalized target reproduction numbers from digraphs and associated matrices. Finding, categorizing, and counting the permutations of disjoint cycles, or cycles unions is a requirement of the Cycle Union approach by Lewis et al. (2019). These cycles and subsequent cycle unions can be found via the digraphs and associated matrices. We developed cycle counting patterns for targeting fertilities within Leslie Matrices, Lefkovitch Matrices, Sub-Diagonal Lower Triangle Transition Matrices, and Lower Triangle Transition Matrices to serve as a foundation for future work. Presented are the counting patterns and closed-form summations of the cycle unions.

High-Performance Matrix Multiplication: Hierarchical Data Structures, Optimized Kernel Routines, and Qualitative Performance ModelingWu, Wenhao 02 August 2003 (has links)
The optimal implementation of matrix multiplication on modern computer architectures is of great importance for scientific and engineering applications. However, achieving the optimal performance for matrix multiplication has been continuously challenged both by the ever-widening performance gap between the processor and memory hierarchy and the introduction of new architectural features in modern architectures. The conventional way of dealing with these challenges benefits significantly from the blocking algorithm, which improves the data locality in the cache memory, and from the highly tuned inner kernel routines, which in turn exploit the architectural aspects on the specific processor to deliver near peak performance. A state-of-art improvement of the blocking algorithm is the self-tuning approach that utilizes "heroic" combinatorial optimization of parameters spaces. Other recent research approaches include the approach that explicitly blocks for the TLB (Translation Lookaside Buffer) and the hierarchical formulation that employs memoryriendly Morton Ordering (a spaceilling curve methodology). This thesis compares and contrasts the TLB-blocking-based and Morton-Order-based methods for dense matrix multiplication, and offers a qualitative model to explain the performance behavior. Comparisons to the performance of self-tuning library and the "vendor" library are also offered for the Alpha architecture. The practical benchmark experiments demonstrate that neither conventional blocking-based implementations nor the self-tuning libraries are optimal to achieve consistent high performance in dense matrix multiplication of relatively large square matrix size. Instead, architectural constraints and issues evidently restrict the critical path and options available for optimal performance, so that the relatively simple strategy and framework presented in this study offers higher and flatter overall performance. Interestingly, maximal inner kernel efficiency is not a guarantee of global minimal multiplication time. Also, efficient and flat performance is possible at all problem sizes that fit in main memory, rather than "jagged" performance curves often observed in blocking and self-tuned blocking libraries.

These patch panels have been used for decades and have many benefits operationally speaking. Digital switching matrices on the other hand, while very popular in the broadcasting and music industries, are not being fully utilized in the telemetry world. Digital switches offer many of the same benefits of patch panels along with an abundance of added features including signal conversion and distribution. This paper describes the benefits of migrating from patch panels to digital switching matrices. It will discuss both the pros and cons of each technology as well as look at the short term and long term cost implications of each. This paper will also discuss return on investment and operational improvements that can be gained from utilizing digital switching matrices in place of patch panels.

The Directorate Public of Works Engineering Service Branch is responsible new designs, renovations of existing construction, and general supervision of new construction. Over the years (especially in the last two or three years), the Design Branch has been perceived as providing a low quality product. The quality can be directly related to personnel issues within the organization such as heavy workloads, low morale, lack of respect for management, and lack of leadership which is required to improve the quality of work. As a result of the evaluation of the current organizational structure and how it contributes to the personnel aspects of its staff I have recommended that the organization transitions from an operational structure to a matrix structure.
I have furthermore, identifying the strengths of the recommended structure and how it will contribute to the improvement in the quality of the design. I have also identified weaknesses of the recommended structure and sought to identify solutions to minimize negative impacts on the organization. The roles and responsibilities are also identified in the recommended matrix organizational structure. / text
