Anstalten Svartsjö : - säkerhetskommunikation, kommunikativa utmaningar och organisationsklimat

Stajic, Sofia January 2017 (has links)

Cederquist, Linnea January 2017 (has links)

Printmaking and illustration with heat : identifying techniques and determining the suitability of print materials

Yamani, Morteza January 2006 (has links)
The practice-led research was concerned with the development of the combination of high relief prints and the creation of different shades of printmaking inks through heat. The research was in the proportion of 60% practice and 40% theory. To locate this research within contemporary practice, the study began with the literature review and consideration was given to the work of artists, who use heat in their work. The literature review also investigated embossed patterns and relief techniques including the work of artists who produce imagery through pronounced relief. Existing colour systems were reviewed and these assisted a framework for correlating the colour samples that were modified through the application of heat to printing ink. This review demonstrated that there was no compelling evidence to suggest that artists had seriously taken into account the connection between heat, colour and relief pattern. Studio research consisted of a series of studies that explored the potential of heat and its facility to change the effect of printmaking inks. In this research, temperature, variation and duration were all recorded. Research also examined the ability of heat to relax and release paper fibres under pressure thereby achieving extremes of positive and negative relief, as well as embossed and textured surfaces. This was done by exploring different methods of pressing paper under heat to form and print a variety of high relief, involving concave and convex forms. The research also examined punctured paper, tears, and embossed holes and examined how the fragmentation of paper fibres could be enhanced through heat. The research culminated in the making of a series of full scale prints that demonstrate the use of heat and its ability to enable high relief prints and subtle changes of colour. The research concluded with an examination exhibition and a written dissertation.

Determination of Viable Connectivity Technology for E-Learning in Tanzania : Case Study of Rural Secondary Schools

Simba, Fatuma January 2012 (has links)
In response to different development challenges, Tanzania is striving to achieve her fourth attribute of the National Development Vision, i.e. to have a well educated and learning society by the year 2025. The earmarked approach is to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education system (e-learning), in order to improve teaching and learning processes, hence provision of quality education. However, Tanzania is challenged by lack of ICT infrastructures in rural areas, which affects integration of ICT in education. This thesis presents a research work to determine a cost-effective and performance efficient connectivity technology for rural secondary schools to access e-learning resources. The research surveyed wireless technologies, in order to identify potential broadband access technologies suitable for rural areas of the developing countries. Because ICT is a very dynamic sector, the identified technologies were compared by using conceptual framework to study their sustainability and thereafter, analyzed by using techno-economic approach to determine a feasible and cost effective option. Results show that, a third generation (3G) Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) operating at 900MHz is a feasible and cost - effective connectivity technology for rural areas of Tanzania. Furthermore, the research employed a simulation modelling approach to study traffic differentiation and priority scheduling mechanisms in providing Quality of Service (QoS) for e-learning applications in UMTS networks. A simulation model of the UMTS network is developed and used to study performance of e-learning applications as perceived by users. Simulation results showed that, UMTS network configured with traffic differentiation and priority scheduling can guarantee delivery of e-learning services with the required QoS. The Public Private People's Partnership (PPPP) model is proposed by this research as an implementation strategy for sustainable broadband rural connectivity solution.

Reflections of Maturity

Miehl, Cheryl A. 26 October 2011 (has links)
My artwork is inspired by philosophical questions and personal experiences that are prompted from the colors and textures of weathered and worn metal, the changing scenery of the landscape, or from the recollections of childhood memories. The sum of these inspirations are unified by the concepts of growth and change, my own and that of the body of work. The translation of my experiences provides the opportunity to discover new variations in theme, process, and media. For example, monotype printmaking allows me to present the often overlooked beauty of metal eroding, revealing its story layer by layer. Digital photography encourages me to revisit the places of my childhood and consider the effects of the passing years. Painting provides a playground for the exploration of line, shape, texture, and color in a symbolic and nonobjective manner.

Complex Simplicity

Dublin, Marina 29 March 2013 (has links)
I was born the only American in my West Indian, Guyanese family. My culture played a large part in how I was brought up, and in turn, shaped the person and artist I have become. In my work, I like for my viewers to get a personal feel for what it is like to be West Indian American. My work is a cultural record of people, places, and things. I capture small, special moments because I know that they will never be recreated. My camera’s viewfinder has always been filtered through my eye as a child of immigrant parents. I use photography as my first step in creating and recording ordinary, everyday things. Photographs are captured where I feel most American eyes would by-pass or overlook their importance. However, my work must also involve my hand. Therefore, through my mark making, whether I am drawing, painting, collaging, stitching or using software, I add and subtract from my original photos. By manipulating my images, I change and emphasize a single, fleeting moment into something permanent and significant.

Beauty in a Crooked Line

Ramey, Sarah 11 November 2013 (has links)
Experimentation is the beginning and end of all of my art. I examine the interactions of the materials that are involved in the journey of creativity. Typically, I begin a piece with an irregularly drawn line, using a white crayon to resist the media that I will later apply, thereby creating a negative line. This gestural line becomes an element that helps direct my intuitive mark-making. My process involves masking, using resists, and layering materials. I then remove the layers of media by scraping or sanding them away changing the texture of the paper. I am drawn to media that is unpredictable, difficult to control, and can be unforgiving. These qualities enhance the process of the experimentation because application of a pigmented mark cannot completely be erased. The resulting work reveals its history through the process of making it.

A Slice of Life's Passage

Bosch, Cheryl T. 01 January 2006 (has links)
Society and popular culture present their ideas of perfection through the media. I wish to reinvent these standards in my art, to show the beauty of the ordinary and the grace of the flawed. Beauty, by definition, is that which gives intense aesthetic pleasure. I think that aesthetic pleasure can be found in the commonplace and I use aspects of cropping, perspective, and scale to show these everyday items as extraordinary. I want people to realize the loveliness of a street lamp, the sensuality of a smile, or the poetry of an elbow. This is the underlying theme that runs through all of my work. The evolution of the methods used to create this beauty is also important. Cropping images and adding textures to my supports has shaped my approach to realism. It has been quite a journey.

A “mad” scientist and a piece of plastic will save your life : A quantitative study about the crisis communication of Karolinska Institute during the events of Macchiarini

Jonasson, Malin, Bredberg, Elin January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how Karolinska Institutets (KI) crisis communication looked like during the occurrences of the scientist Paolo Macchiarini that arise mostly due to a documentary made by Swedish Television (SVT) and producer Bosse Lindquist. The study focuses on the occurrences that arise mainly in the beginning of 2016 even though it all started further back in time. To examine this occurrence, we look at how KI communicated with their stakeholders and if KI utilized any crisis management strategies in accordance to this studies theory and to Coombs (2012) recommendations that are presented in the theory chapter of this study. The approach of this study is based on a quantitative content analysis as method, where we critically examine all of the news articles that concerns Macchiarini and were released on KI’s website during 2015-2016. The study will be based in the theory Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). And to be able to examine the crisis communication of KI looked like during the crisis, and if they used any crisis communication management per this study’s theoretical framework, we have chosen to examine ten variables in the analyze of the 50 news articles. In addition to the content analysis we have performed an interview with the communication Director of KI to get a deeper understanding of their communication, both in-house and external, and to locate how KI handled their crisis communication during the crisis. The result of this study shows that KI partly has been using crisis management tools and strategies in their news articles per the theoretical framework of this study. Per the support of information from our completed interview, it was nothing KI was aware of, but something that they unconsciously made use of.
