The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Disney princesses have been portrayed and how has it changed over time. I watched nine Disney films with a total of nine different princesses. I wanted to see if there are any stereotypical roles that fit in with female Disney princesses and also wanted to see when this change took place over how they were portrayed in the meantime. As a method, I have used qualitative content analysis. I chose different properties and categories that I was looking for in the movies. These categories and properties contain different stereotypical characters and chores that the princesses perform in their homes. This study has used the theories stereotypes and earlier research by Disney Princess. The conclusion was that there was a clear difference between the older and newer films. In the first films, the princesses only dreamed of finding their dream prince, but in newer films she had other goals and dreams than finding a man. The princesses in the first films were very stereotypical women and in newer films the princesses are braver and more independent.

The body of marketing is drastically changing, pushing frontiers in numerous of domains, geographically, behaviourally and strategically with much enhanced technology in an increasingly globalized world. As this phenomenon pushes forward on many fronts, it is worthwhile to ask what will happen in the near future in this field. In today’s society ‘Influencer Marketing’ is known to be an incredibly popular and successful marketing tool, where one might be wondering: What is a plausible future in this area? What are the potential threats and challenges (if any) that we may encounter? What drives Influencer Marketing in organizations and what questions do they have about its impacts and measurements? I am hoping to fulfil this gap with the assistance of Critical Future Studies, Inayatullah (1990,1998) Luke Goode, Michael Godhe (2017,2018) in analysing the various facts and information that are being addressed and most importantly critically assess what is being missed. This Master thesis is a critical study, reflecting the future thinking and strategies relating to Emotional Branding, Danny Brown, Sam Fiorella (2013) made by experts in the fields of Public Relations, using a quantitative content analysis and semi-structured interviews. The chosen methods demonstrate two distinctive results, the content analysis showing a rather positive overview whereas the semi-structured interviews unpack the complexities and challenges in Influencer Marketing and has a negative stance towards its future. Future Studies, is a rigorous branch of study, where unfortunately no one can know for certain what the future holds, however I believe that it is important that we acknowledge values and invite scholars to join this critical dialogue about possible futures and the way we can imagine and discuss the future. The results in this thesis also further demonstrates the necessity in studying this branch of study due to the contradicting answers that are being addressed in the analysis. This thesis also intends to signify that it will not be closure but an encouragement to consider the impetus for a much larger conversation.

Abstract: While the end of apartheid in South Africa brought the end of state repression and formal apartheid censorship of the press, new mechanisms have come to replace the old. Market-driven English daily newspapers continue, through a series of new filters, to limit, shape, and censor ideas for the benefit of the elite private and public sectors. The manufactured, one-dimensional, pro-market world view that results restricts both freedom and democracy. As South Africa enters its second decade of democracy, with new freedoms and civil liberties, further evaluation of this relationship between the media, the state, and the market becomes increasingly vital. The ‘Propaganda Model’ as laid out by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky, in their book, Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media (1988, updated 2002) represents a significant analysis of media performance in a democracy. The authors question basic premises of democracy and the free press. According to Herman and Chomsky, the US media “serve, and propagandise on behalf of, the powerful societal interests that control and finance them.” This qualitative and quantitative study demonstrates that propaganda and media control continues today within South African English daily newspapers. To prove this argument, this paper examines how three South African newspapers cover forestry, terrorism, and the New African Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) over a two-year period. The quantitative study surveyed 1797 articles and examined the use of sources quoted and revealed censorship of alternative voices. The qualitative analysis examined the vested interests and various players have in a pro-market, censored representation of NEPAD, the forestry industry, and terrorism. The study revealed that capitalism and the resulting interlocking capital of board members, newspaper owners, advertisers, and the government, cause newspapers to engage in self-censorship and exclusion of threatening voices to advance the interests of the elite.

Faculty of Arts School of Humanities 9407042h grule@polka.co.za / The simplistic, optimistic view surrounding Internet discourse suggests that because of the Net's ability to quickly and cheaply distribute vast amounts of information and facilitate communication, citizens can use digital networks to influence decision-making in society, which will lead to democratisation in communication. While there is indeed an inherent interactive capacity in the technologies of new media that facilitates discussion and debate, computer-mediated communication generally does not live up to the democratic hype. More to the point, the discursive inequalities and exclusions that result from the uneven distribution of power in society tend to be reproduced in the online environment.

För en handfull år sedan, i februari 2012, blev en imam och politisk flykting skjuten i Strömsund av en uzbekisk torped. Gärningsmannen dömdes till livstid i mars 2016 och de senare åren har inneburit betydande ökning av flyktingar till Sverige, många med politiska anledningar att fly, och sina egna orsaker att vara oroliga för att bli utsatta för attentat. Detta gjorde idag till den bästa tiden att berätta denna historia, och vi satte oss på att läsa in oss på artiklarna och beställa de dokument som vi skulle kunna behöva. Domar, förundersökningar, rapporter om situationen i Uzbekistan, och internetforum, för att även få en bild av vad de "riktigt kritiska" tyckte om saken. Snart visade det sig att den komiska bild vi haft inte stämde, av torpeden som står på ett tomt torg mitt emot sågverket och stoppar en förbiåkande sparkförare för att fråga om det går några fler bussar mot Östersund den dagen. Som tur var visade sig den riktiga historien vara ännu mer spektakulär. I denna rapport reflekterar vi över arbetet. De källor vi valde, de källor vi valde bort, hur vi resonerade kring valet av radiodokumentär som genre för berättandet, hur vi arbetade med källkritik och, sist men inte minst, redovisar vi hur vi arbetade med dramaturgi och stilistik. Vi redovisar hur vi använt oss av olika källor och hur vi redovisar även våra resonemang om hur vi ska framställa de personer som medverkar i dokumentären..   Efteråt följer en arbetsdagbok, där processen redovisas dag-för-dag, samt en line-by-line enligt Nils Hansons modell, där varje sakpåstående styrks med källhänvisningar, reportaget helhetsbild bedöms, och extra hänsyn tas till om eventuella kritiserade parter har fått chans att besvara kritiken.

Hundratals personer som har dömts till fängelse går fortfarande fria. Sedan den 1 januari 2012 befinner sig över 800 personer, som i april fortfarande var efterlysta och inte hade fått sina brott preskriberade, på fri fot. Artikelförfattarna har i sin granskning tittat närmare på 50 av personerna. Artiklarna avslöjar att flera efterlysta personer, utan att bli upptäckta, kan få hjälp av en rad svenska myndigheter. Trots att de öppet tar del av samhällets bekvämligheter har polisen och Kriminalvården inte lyckats hitta dem.  Andra personer i granskningen har haft en registrerad inkomst av tjänst hos Skatteverket under åtminstone ett inkomstår efter efterlysningen. Skatteverket vet därför vem som är utbetalare, men uppgifterna är i dessa fall sekretessbelagda. Klart är att utbetalaren antingen är en myndighet eller en arbetsgivare. Antingen får brottslingarna alltså hjälp av svenska myndigheter, eller så borde de vara lätta för polisen att hitta. Artikelförfattarna har också tittat närmare på ett fall. En internationellt efterlyst konstbedragare levde ett öppet liv och använde myndigheternas tjänster i flera år trots att hon borde ha suttit i fängelse. Åtta år efter den första efterlysningen ville Kriminalvården bredda den internationella efterlysningen till att gälla även utanför Europa. Detta trots att den efterlysta konstbedragen under de senaste åren hade använt sig och fått hjälp av Försäkringskassan, Skatteverket, Pensionsmyndigheten, Kronofogden, Folktandvården, Transportstyrelsen, förvaltningsrätten, sin hemkommun och flera olika sjukhus. I sin kontakt med myndigheterna angav hon flera gånger sin bostadsadress.

Mitt examensarbete är en kort dokumentär som följer den amerikanska musikern och skivsamlaren Paul Major. Paul var en misslyckad punkmusiker som genom sitt skivsamlande upptäckte en bortglömd skatt av självutgiven musik under 70 och 80 talet som brukar kallas ”real people”- musik eller outsider musik. En brokig skara av artister som alla har en sak gemensam, deras verk faller helt utanför ramen av vad som anses vara ”mainstream” musik. Vi får följa Paul under några dagar i New York när han leder oss igenom sin egen livshistoria och skivorna han upptäckte och hjälpte till att sprida. Han ger oss också en inblick i den oväntade andra akten i sitt liv när han trodde att det sista tåget hade gått.
