Multicultural Curriculum: Models and Methods in Elementary Art Education

Na, Yoo Lim 11 August 2015 (has links)
This thesis is an analysis of existing approaches to multicultural curriculums and an original curriculum unit developed based on them. The study explores McFee and Degge’s (1977) Universal Institutions of an Evolving Culture and Related Curricular Themes in correlation with Banks’s (2009) Levels of Integration of Ethnic Content. The purpose of the study is to help educators make effective multicultural curricular choices when constructing unit lessons to give students a more comprehensive multicultural experience in art class. The goal is to understand that “culture can be a tool and a more powerful concept than language because it can be used to organize and teach more information” (Banks, p. 55).

Dolování a mincování v Kutné Hoře jako námět integrované tematické výuky v dějepise na druhém stupni základní školy / Mining and Minting in Kutna Hora as a Topic of Integrated Thematic Instruction in History Education in Secondary Schools

Urbanová, Petra January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to the concept of integrated thematic teaching, the history of silver ore mining and coinage in Kutná Hora. The practical part presents the integrated thematic education for pupils of the secondary school, which was verified in practice at secondary school in Suchdol. The mining of silver ore and silver coinage in Kutná Hora was explained theoretically and practically to pupils. Pupils worked with school historical sources and literature relevant to the subject. Part of the practical part was a field trip to the Italian Court in Kutná Hora. In the teaching were used methods, which support brain-compatible learning according to the concept of integrated thematic teaching (for example an interview, a group work, a photography, a brainstorming, etc.). Part of the diploma thesis is also evaluation of the practical implementation of the proposal. There are reviewed not only the benefits but also the pitfalls of integrated thematic lessons.

Model integrované výuky a jeho potenciál pro rozvoj vzdělávání / The model of integrated teaching and its potential for the development of education

Bírešová, Tatiana January 2021 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis is the model of integrated teaching and its potential for the development of education. If the model of integrated teaching is currently used in Czech schools, this is done primarily at the first or second stage of primary school. In my work, I would like to show that this approach to education can be used, and it also has benefits in high schools (grammar schools). The work will be primarily focused on the potential use of integrated teaching in the educational field "Man and Society. I understand integrated teaching in the sense of combining (synthesis) the curriculum of individual subjects or cognitively close educational areas into one whole with emphasis on the complexity and globality of cognition, where a number of subject relationships are applied. The aim of the work is to provide a reflection of the methodology and theoretical procedures necessary for the practical application of the curriculum based on the principles of integrated teaching. Subsequently, I would like to offer a kind of "guide" to their application in practice. On examples from abroad, I want to point out the practice in introducing this method of teaching.
