Vygotsky and Rey’s theories are the basic theory references and appoint subjects’ development and their subjective constitution as a complex and dialectic process, allowing the comprehension based on their historic-cultural roots. Aiming to understand how the processes are established, which interact at the individuals’ development, constituting subjectively the old age processes, this thesis became possible to clear how the interviewees constitute old age psychically, in a singular manner and how the old age social representations and labor conditions in this beginning of century are established from the subjective process of each one. Searching for support at historic-dialectic Materialist, the commitment with the production of knowledge within this thesis is linked on praxis. It also proposes reflections concerned to the old age social representations and their social practices, when the human potential and non-potential steady dynamics are evidenced throughout this development. / Ao dimensionar o desenvolvimento humano a partir de uma perspectiva sócio - histórica, esse trabalho de mestrado objetiva dar subsídios a compreensão dos processos de envelhecimento. As teorias de Vygotsky e Rey são os referenciais teóricos básicos e postulam o desenvolvimento dos sujeitos e sua constituição subjetiva como um processo complexo e dialético, permitindo comprendê - lo em suas raízes histórico culturais. Objetivando compreender como se configuram os processos que interagem no desenvolvimento dos indivíduos, constituindo subjetivamente os processos de envelhecimento, foi possível, nesse trabalho, elucidar como os entrevistados constituem psiquicamente o envelhecer de forma singular e como as representações sociais da velhice e as condições de trabalho neste início de século são configurados a partir dos processos de subjetivação de cada um. Ao buscar suportes no Materialismo Histórico - Dialético, o compromisso com a produção do conhecimento nessa dissertação vinculou - se da práxis. Propõe também reflexões acerca das representações sociais da velhice, e das práticas sociais ao evidenciar a dinâmica constante das potencialidades e impotencialidades do homem ao longo do seu desenvolvimento.
