Identifying and Tackling Diversity of Management and Administration of a Handover ProcessKhan, Ahmad Salman, Kajko-Mattsson, Mira January 2011 (has links)
Software handover is a de facto process in all software organizations. It is one of the most business critical and complex processes. It is also one of the most diverse processes, and thereby, one of the most difficult processes to define. Despite this, software handover is not well recognized within the academia. Right now, there are no software handover process models whatsoever although software organizations desperately need guidelines for how to perform this important and critical task. To aid them in defining their handover process models, we are in the process of creating Evolution and Maintenance Management Model (EM 3 ): Software Handover focusing on handover (alias transition) of a software system from developer to maintainer. In this paper, we evaluate one of the EM 3 components, Management and Administration (MA), addressing activities for planning and controlling the transition process, its schedule, budget and resources. We do it within 29 organizations. Our primary goal is to find out whether the component is realistic and whether it meets the needs and requirements of the software industry today. Using the feedback from the industry, we tackle process diversity using the C ontext- D riven P rocess Orchestration M ethod (CoDPOM). /
QC 20120223

A GROUNDED THEORY STUDY OF THE EXPERIENCES, PROCESS, AND TRANSITIONAL NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH AUTISM2015 March 1900 (has links)
The overall purpose of this qualitative, constructivist, grounded theory study is to gain a clear understanding of the experience and process of transition for people with autism during the stage of emerging adulthood. Specifically, the objectives are: (a) to gain an understanding of the lived experiences and development processes of individuals with autism during their transition from youth to adulthood; (b) to construct a substantive theory of the experience and process of this transition, grounded in the experiences of people with autism and other stakeholders; (c) to identify any gaps or deficits in governmental or nongovernmental support that, if ameliorated, could ease an transition into adulthood of people with autism.
This study employed qualitative analysis, using constructivist grounded theory. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with two groups of participants, including parents of people with autism and professionals involved in service-providing organizations. Twelve interviews were conducted; two of the ten participants were second interviewed. Participants were selected from Saskatoon using the snowball method.
It is revealed from this study that the main concern of people with autism was “resistance to change”. Properly managing their transition in to adulthood addresses this concern, helps them feel relaxed, and may prevent them from engaging in socially unacceptable behavior. The theory developed from this study describes 6 processes of effective transition: (a) make a plan; (b) introduce change gradually; (c) communicate effectively; (d) work in a team; (e) develop a supportive community; and (f) retain support staff. More individualized programs are needed for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), and existing funding policies should be reviewed. Also, they would benefit from vocational training, residential facilities, more funds, trained staff, and trained Education Assistants (EA).
It is anticipated that the knowledge gained from this study will provide information on transition management. This research, therefore, is particularly beneficial to the people with autism and their families, as well as professionals working in this field. This study will also be useful in reviewing the policies and programs of government and nongovernment organizations in the field of autism. In its application, this study aims to contribute to both the research literature and existing programs on autism.

Mémoires de vainqueurs, mémoires de vaincus. : La construction démocratique à l'épreuve des conflits autour des mémoires de la Guerre Civile et du franquisme / The memories of the victors and the defeated. : Spanish democracy building faced to the conflicts of memory of the Cicil War and the francoismSerrano Moreno, Juan Enrique 20 June 2013 (has links)
This PhD thesis analyzes the role of conflict in relation to the memories of the Spanish Civil War and Francoism in the context of democracy building in the long-term and the local, regional and national levels. The socio-historical study of practices, discourses and intercations between agents such as the statee, the church, the political parties, historiography, victims' associations or families, elucidates how the memory of the Cicil War ceased to be a manichean story, being depoliticized during the transition, and finally becam, once democracy was consolidated, a policy field and a militant cause. The intersectorial circulation of political, religious, historical and legal knwledges, actions and agents-bearing dibergent and little reflexive interpretations of history-involved the establishment of cultural matrices by which ordinary citizens translate contemporary politics. The conflicts between the victors'memories and the vanquished's ones are both the cause and the effect of the policization of memory and the memorization of politics, thus participating in the undermining of the initial legitimacy of the Spanish democratic regime.

During the transition to market economy and the accession to the EU Central and Eastern European countries have witnessed remarkable changes in the structure and functioning of national economies. This thesis aims to assess the development of aggregate and regional labour markets in new EU member states through this eventful period and to investigate the role of active labour market policy in moderating the consequences of transitional shock and improving the performance of the labour market. The analysis of the process of worker-firm matching in Latvia, Slovenia and Estonia reveals that in transition - EU accession context the hiring process is labour demand driven and displays the existence of stock-flow patterns and spatial spillovers. The effects of ALMP programs are confirmed to be positive at both macroeconomic and individual levels: involvement of unemployed in training increases aggregate outflows from unemployment to jobs and increases individual employability of participants.
