Trendy podnikových informačních systémů v oblasti CRM / Trends in the CRM business information systemsValenta, Martin January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the trends related to the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) with emphasis on the CRM software. Essential trends were identified through professional analytical reports and dedicated servers. CRM trends were analysed from the time and factual perspective. The core purpose of this thesis was to evaluate possible business value of identified trends for businesses from a selected market segment. To fulfil this goal, the banking segment was chosen to be further analysed. The author of this thesis studied the extent of implementation of chosen trends in a real CRM implementation project executed in a bank operating on the market of Czech Republic. In the process, the set of interviews with "CRM in banking sector" professionals were completed to figure out how they are possibly appreciated by the whole banking sector. Through the responses of the chosen professionals, some trends characteristics were mainly followed. These were trend maturity (captured by slightly modified Gartner Hype Cycle) and trend business value (captured by defined numeral evaluation). An average evaluation of business value of each trend, done from various time perspectives, was displayed by two different tables, each grouping trends on the factual basis. Finally, trends business values were represented graphically to accent their possible progress as seen from the banking sector point of view and to provide users with a simple tool to confront their view with the view of the professionals. The tool mentioned allows users to focus on the trends that are likely to be very beneficial (according to the general opinion of the chosen professionals) and at the same time allows users to stay clear of the trends that don't promise much value for the banking sector, not even in the future.

Assessment of poverty and inequality trends in the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria: Evidence from the General Household Survey of NigeriaJaiyeola, Afeez Olalekan January 2018 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD / The high rate of poverty in Nigeria has reached alarming proportions. Despite average economic
growth rates of 6 percent between 2004 and 2010, the incidence of poverty has remained high,
increasing from 54.7 percent in 2004 to 60.9 percent in 2010 (Nigerian Bureau of Statistics,
2010). A drop in the poverty rate to an average of 56.1 percent between 1999 and 2007 could be
attributed to the measures taken by the civilian government against administrative corruption,
increased domestic and foreign investments and some implemented agricultural policies. These
efforts were thwarted by subsequent administrations with devastating effects for the Nigerian
population. It is in recognition of this that this study examines the political economy of poverty in
Nigeria; analyses the variations in poverty and inequality across the six geopolitical zones of
Nigeria; examines the impact of economic growth on poverty reduction across the six geopolitical
zones of Nigeria over the period 2010 - 2013; investigates the reasons for the low rates of poverty
reduction in Nigeria and analyses whether economic growth in Nigeria was pro-poor.

Trends and patterns of use of CAM (Complementary and alternative medicine) among senior nursing studentsSchutz, Pamela Lorne 17 November 2006 (has links)
Student Number : 8229351 -
MSc (Nursing) research report -
Faculty of Health Sciences / The use and teaching of CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) therapies is a
growing trend worldwide in the pursuit of health and the amelioration of some disease
problems. Chronic, insoluble problems, stress (both mental and physiological), and pain
are particularly the target of these therapies. In February 2001, South Africa became a
world leader when she passed legislation promoting ten traditional or complementary and
alternative therapies into professionalism.
The purpose of this study was to assess the trends and patterns of use of senior nursing
students of CAM therapies, and their intention to use such CAM therapies on their
patients, or to refer their patients to practitioners of CAM therapies. A self-report survey
was used to obtain this data, partly constructed from knowledge gathered in the literature
review.
Senior nursing students from three teaching institutions in Johannesburg participated in
the survey. A pilot study to test the feasibility of the study and the reliability of the
instrument was carried out at one of these three institutions. The group that participated
in the pilot was not the same group that was later used as subjects at this institution. The
pilot test was then subjected to a Peason's Product-Moment Correlation test to assess testretest
reliability. Pearson's r was found to be 0.8, which shows high reliability of the
instrument.
Descriptive statistics (frequencies, means, and proportions) were used to summarize and
present the results. The main results are as follows. A much larger group of respondents
saw allopathic practitioners than CAM practitioners for their personal health problems
and to maintain their health. Knowledge of CAM therapies was reported to be fairly low,
though this may be due to the number of therapies presented for consideration. A large
percentage of the respondents was interested in learning about, and even practicing CAM
therapies on their patients, and in referring their patients to CAM practitioners or being
able to advise them about CAM therapies and remedies appropriately.
Given these results, with regard to nursing education, it was suggested that at least an
introductory course to the basic tenets of CAM therapies and "holistic" or "body-mind
medicine", needs to be presented to all student nurses. The problems inherent in
developing adequate and relevant research avenues for these complex subjects, and an
understanding of a range of the most commonly practiced CAM therapies needs to be
included at neophyte nursing level. Focussed suggestions are made in the body of the
report. Focussed suggestions are also made with regard to future research, both within
the field of nursing and related allopathic disciplines possibly interested in incorporating
aspects of CAM therapies within their own bodies of knowledge, and outside these
disciplines. Suggestions relevant to the teaching and practice of a few CAM therapies
practiced by the researcher, and of pharmacological and other possible avenues of
research relevant to some of these therapies, will be made in the form of further articles
submitted to the professional magazines of the CAM therapies concerned.

Towards environmentally sound health-care waste management in the central district municipality of North West provinceMudau, Stephinah 22 February 2007 (has links)
Student Number : 0318613G -
MSc research report -
School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Studies -
Faculty of Science / This report presents an analysis of health-care waste management in selected
hospitals in the Central District Municipality of the North West Province, with
a view of making recommendations that will ensure environmentally sound
and sustainable health-care waste management in the study area.
In contributing to the promotion of sustainable management of health-care
waste (HCW), the study aimed to minimize waste generation and
environmental impact of waste treatment and disposal, to enhance public
health and safety, and to provide a safer working environment around
hospitals. An assessment was carried out which involved a review of relevant
literature, site visits, and interviews with key stakeholders in health-care waste
management in the study area, to generate data and information on health-care
waste management trends and issues.
The major findings of the study include identified gaps in terms of the policy
and legislative framework for the actual management of HCW, and issues
relating to the mishandling of health-care waste, poor segregation,
inappropriate storage rooms, and insufficient training on health-care waste
management. Sustainable health-care waste management measures are
proposed to improve the current situation at the health-care facilities in the
Central District Municipality of the North West Province.
