Reprezentace socialistického dědictví v pražských městských průvodcích / Representation of the socialist heritage in Prague city guidebooks

Paulik, Róza January 2020 (has links)
Key words: Prague, Budapest, guidebook, heritage trail, socialist heritage, built heritage Abstract: The thesis focuses on the heritagization of the socialist heritage: how the representation of socialist heritage has changed over years since the emergence of the socialist modernist architecture in East-Central Europe and how the approach towards socialist heritage is currently changing in the wake of the heritagization process. An asymmetrical comparative analysis of Prague and Budapest highlights the similarities and differences in the two cities' history, particularly in the socialist era. The choice of the cities was based on the facts that both cities are historical capitals, and neither Budapest's nor Prague's old town was changed dramatically during the Socialist period. The research deals with the heritagization process of socialist heritage from two angles: it combines analytical and practical aims. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the heritagization process of socialist heritage, the history of guidebooks and the emergence of heritage trails as important part of the new tourism approach. On the analytical level, the thesis focuses on the visual analysis of the presentation of socialist architecture in guidebooks and the promotion for the socialist heritage before and after the change...

Tingatinga: kooperativ nebo rodina? / Tingatinga: cooperative or family?

Lhotová, Zuzana January 2011 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis are the tingatinga painters in Tangatinga Arts Cooperative Society in Tanzania. The tingatinga art is based on the motive of the African nature and on the lives of the people in Tanzania. These painters accept both the rules of the cooperative as well as the hierarchy of a family, because this organization is based primarily on the family interconnections. The goal of the thesis is to find which institution type is the dominant one and the principles of how cooperative operates. The relationship with the founder of this art style is also interesting. The thesis is based on the anthropology of tourism because it deals with a touristic art. Some of the approaches can be applied to the study of tingatinga painters but some of them are in contrast. Another question is whether the relation between the painters and the tourists is influenced by the process of acculturation. The art and the painters are influenced with the commercialization process and this thesis tries to capture this dynamic process and the influence of tourists on its creating.

Hosté a hostitelé: turistické interakce v istrijském penzionu Lucia / Guests and Hosts: Tourist Interactions in the Istrian Pension Lucia

Garajová, Jolana January 2015 (has links)
The master's thesis explores the process in which tourist interactions between hosts and guests develop and sheds some light on tourism imaginaries by which these interactions are constructed and produced in an Istrian pension. The ethnography of hosts and guests presented here illustrates how the global and the local are closely intertwined through the process called glocalization (Salazar, 2005) and shows that "the global not only affects, but becomes the local, and vice versa". (Leite, Graburn in Jamal, Robinson ed., 2009: 53) The thesis shows how both the global and the local can take an active part in the process of new meaning-making in the context of tourism. In the pension, there is an ongoing local struggle over tourism imaginaries seeking to redefine the place and people. (Salazar, 2012) The thesis reveals that hosts cannot be viewed as passive victims of their hosts' expectations. They rather can be viewed as active negotiators, negotiating their position in the field of tourism.
