Utomhusmatematik som undervisningsmetod i skolan : en litteraturöversikt av undervisningsaktiviteter, motivation och prestation / Outdoor Mathematics as a Teaching Method in School : a Literature Review of Teaching Activities, Motivation and Performance

Den här litteraturstudien redogör för vilka undervisningsaktiviteter/undervisningsmetoder som används i utomhusmatematik. Utomhusmatematikens påverkan på elevers motivation samt vilka faktorer kan förklara den påverkan diskuteras utifrån olika utomhusaktiviteter inom matematik. Slutligen diskuteras utomhusmatematikens påverkan på elevers prestation gällande matematiskt innehåll och förmågor. Urvalet bestod av sex artiklar som studerade elever på olika skolnivåer alltifrån gymnasiet till lågstadiet. De flesta av studierna som har används i den här litteraturstudien är utförda i Sydasien. För att analysera urvalet användes tematisering och deduktiv innehållsanalys. Undervisningsaktiviteterna som används i utomhusmatematik delas in i fyra teman; matematikspår, föremålsorienterad problemlösning, situationsinriktad problemlösning och tävlingsbaserad problemlösning. Utomhusmatematik påverkade elevernas motivation positivt och faktorerna som kan förklara att elevernas motivation ökade delas in i teman. Eleverna ökade sina prestationer i matematiskt innehåll och förmågor på grund av utomhusmatematik. / This literature study reports which teaching activities / teaching methods are being used within the field of outdoor mathematics. The influence outdoor mathematics can have on the motivation of students, and what factors may lead to that, are discussed through the lens of various outdoor activities within the field of mathematics. Lastly, a discussion around outdoor mathematics and its effect on students´ performances regarding mathematical content and abilities are being made. The sample consisted of six articles that studied students from various school levels, from elementary school to high school. Most of the studies used in this literatures study were conducted in south of Asia. To analyse the studies a combination of thematic and deductive content analysis was being used. The teaching activities that were being used in the outdoor mathematics were divided into four themes; math trails, object oriented problem-solving, situations based problem-solving and contest based problem-solving. Outdoor mathematics influenced the students´ motivation in a positive fashion and the key underlying factors to that correlation were again divided into themes. The students improved the performances in mathematical content and abilities because to of outdoor mathematics.
