The effect of consumer knowledge, switching cost for the usage intention of 3G video phone serviceLu, Hsueh-lung 04 September 2008 (has links)
The industry of mobile communication in Taiwan has recently become the fastest growing representative in the mobile communication related industries in the world. After several years of development, the industry has moved into the application development stage for 3rd generation (3G) technologies. Within the related services offered by 3G technologies, the most noticeable and the earliest one to set into promotion are video phone service. However, since 3G technologies become available in year 2005, the utilization of video phone service and its popularity keeps at slow growth.
Scholars have pointed out that the consumers¡¦ perception of the products can have impact on their purchasing and using decisions. Further, some scholars also think that if the consumers believe the risk of change is high; their willingness to accept new services is lowered. Based on the above two factors, this research examines the current status on consumers¡¦ perception on 3G technologies and also investigates the interrelationships among consumers¡¦ perception of the cost of change and the utilization of 3G video phone service.
After going through the literature on the subject, this research has categorized consumer knowledge into 4 types. In addition, the switching cost which arising from the change of voice service to 3G video phone service by consumers has also been included into the study. The conclusions and recommendations resulting from the investigation and analysis of current consumer knowledge and the switching cost are as follows:
1.Consumers¡¦ product existence knowledge on 3G video phone service and the persuasion knowledge does not have noticeable impact on its usage intention. However, the product attributes knowledge and the knowledge to purchase and usage have positive noticeable impact on its usage intention.
2.The switching cost for consumers to move from voice services to 3G video phone service has noticeable negative impact on its usage intention for 3G video phone service.
3.Consumers¡¦ persuasion knowledge for 3G video phone service has a negative relationship on the switching cost of change for 3G video phone service.

Online banking usage amongst South African consumers: an empirical study of the impact of current usage on future usage intentionMuzofa, Caroline Vimbai January 2015 (has links)
Thesis (M.Com. (Information Systems))--University of the Witwatersrand, Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management, School of Economic and Business Sciences, 2015. / This research study investigated the key factors that contribute to both current usage and future usage intention of online banking by South African users. The research was focused on online banking from all banks and regions in South Africa, hence making the results generalisable to the South African context.
The variables (Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Facilitating Conditions and Social Influence) were derived from UTAUT model. Trust, Switching Costs and Availability of Alternatives were also added. The conceptual model was moderated by age, gender and experience. The variables used within the study were derived from literature review based on previous studies. From a survey of 300 online banking consumers, results were drawn from 105 responses. In South Africa, Trust, Effort expectancy and facilitating conditions, presented significant and positive impact on future usage intention of using online banking. Age and Experience were also significant to Future Usage intentions.
However Social Influence, Switching Costs and Availability of Alternatives do not play a considerable role in influencing the user’s future usage in South Africa. While current usage did not directly impact future usage intentions of using online banking, the findings on frequency of usage and functionality (applications) added value to understanding the concept of current usage.
The model had an R2 = 0.25 which suggests that within the South African context, there are more factors to be considered for academia and practitioners to understand online banking behaviour amongst consumers. We cannot completely apply theories and models from other countries to the South African context. There is a need to look at factors unique to South Africa, including how customers interpret questionnaires.
The research also contributes to the current body of work and interest by banks in South Africa to move from “bricks to clicks”, (moving customers from the branches onto electronic platforms) that are more accessible from any location, and require less staff to operate. To do that, practitioners need add “trust” factors to online banking as well as increase frequency of users logging on to transact. It is vital for banks to also focus on functionality that is simple, reliable and dependable, as well as adds value to customers to ensure their frequent and continued usage thereof.

影響民眾使用網路公共論壇的關鍵因素陳云玲, Chen, Yun-Ling Unknown Date (has links)
Issues concerning e-Democracy emphasize the importance of citizen participation. Governments in the worldwide invest much in pushing e-Democracy. Specifically, citizens’ attitude and intention are crucial for e-Democracy institutions of Governments. The central theme in this research is: which factors will affect their continuance usage intention for citizens who have been using online public forums? The research model based on Theory of Planned Behavior supposes that attitude and continuance usage intention will be affect by perceived risk.
There are two purposes in this research. Firstly, it attempts to realize the origin and the goal of e-Democracy according to some related literatures. Secondly, it also conducts a model-testing to examine the applicability of the theory through the investigation.
Results of the investigation indicated that citizens’ continuing usage intention of online public forums is affected by the attitude and perceived behavior control. Further, subjective norm didn’t have any obvious influence. These largely show that Theory of Planned Behavior based model is partly suitable to explain the factors of the citizens’usage intention. Overall, the most crucial factor affecting citizens’usage intention is their attitude toward using online public forums. In addition, perceived risk had no obvious influence on the usage intention as expected. This may be due to lower probabilities that individual data or privacy being damaged in online public forums.
