Syftet med den här studien är att empiriskt undersöka hedersvåldsutsattas uppfattningar och erfarenheter av hedersvåld och förtryck, samt deras upplevelser med socialt arbete inom socialtjänsten. Myndigheter där socialarbetare är verksamma har som uppgift att tillförsäkra individers säkerhet. Teorin överensstämmer dock inte alltid med arbetet i praktiken. Med hjälp av ett fåtal självbiografier analyseras i studien hedersvåldsutsattas erfarenheter av våld och förtryck samt insatser från socialarbetare. I textanalysen analyseras teorier såsom intersektionalitet och postkolonial feminism i uppfattningar om heder och i situationer av hedersvåld. Studien fastslår tre stora teman vilka är: kontroll av kvinnans autonomi och sexualitet som en avgörande roll för hedern, hur socialtjänsten brister samt den rådande diskursen när hederskultur diskuteras. Resultaten indikerar att hedersvåld förknippas med kulturer och därmed anses vara ett kulturellt problem trots att problemet i grunden är baserat på könsförtryck. Därtill är konsekvenserna kulturaliserad rasism och stigma som påverkar socialarbetares handlingar. Brist på kunskap är den främsta faktorn som beskylls gällande socialarbetares otillräcklighet och motvilja att ingripa. En inblick i hur förutfattade antaganden påverkar socialarbetares prestationer är viktigt för att utvecklas inom området hedersvåld. Ett annat sätt att utvecklas inom området är genom att genomgå vidare utbildning kring hedersvåld. Socialarbetare befinner sig ofta i positioner där de kan förbättra våldsutsattas levnadsvillkor. Genom att understryka systemens brister kan systemen utvecklas och förbättras. / The purpose of this study is to empirically examine how victims of honour-based violence perceive their experiences of said violence as well as their perceptions of social workers in social services. Authorities in which social workers are present possess a high level of responsibility to ensure the safety of its citizens. However, the practice in theory does not always measure up to the practice in play. Through a few self-biographies this study has analysed the experiences of victims of honour-related violence in relation to both the violence as well as the interventions from social workers. This text analysis analyses theories such as intersectionality and postcolonial feminism in conceptions of honour and in encounters with honour-based violence. The study concludes three major themes which are: the control of the female autonomy as crucial for the maintenance of honour, the deficiency within social services, and the prevailing discourse in discussions of honour culture. The results indicate that honour violence has been associated with cultures and deemed a cultural problem although the problem essentially appertains to sex discrimination. As such its consequences are culturalized racism and stigma that affects and influences social workers’ actions. Lack of knowledge is the main blame factor when it comes to social workers’ inadequacy or reluctance to intervene. Understanding the impact of preconceptions on social workers’ performances is crucial for progress in the honour-violence field. An additional approach for knowledge of honour-violence is undergoing further education in the subject. Social workers are in position of power to improve living conditions for victims of honour-violence. Therefore, it is important to highlight the defects of the system so that improvements may occur.
