Paměť holokaustu v NDR / Nazi Anti-Semitism Remembered: Jewish Memorials in the SBZ and GDR between the Years 1945-1987

McQuiggan, Sean January 2016 (has links)
The thesis is an exploration into the Jewish memorial sites erected in the Soviet Zone of Occupation (SBZ) and German Democratic Republic (GDR) between the years 1945 and 1987. The primary aim of the thesis is to provide a collection of Jewish memorial sites in East Germany during the aforementioned time frame. It uses the theories of French historian Pierre Nora as well a number of other authors to legitimize the importance of these memorial sites. In addition, a typology was created by the author to ensure the proper collection of the memorial sites in order to reflect the research question: how was Nazi anti-Semitism remembered in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) through memorial sites between the years 1945-1987? The thesis is, however, more than just a collection of data. It also provides observations about trends and patterns in Jewish memorialization as well uses a method introduced by Ahenk Yilmaz to examine the individual characteristics of the sites. The thesis concludes that Jewish memorialization in the GDR was primarily a bottom-up approach, a fact that has been overlooked by many researchers in the field. Key Words Memorials, East Germany, SED, Memory, Jewish

Reakce cílových a necílových druhů na feromony motýlů v arboretu Mendelovy univerzity v Brně

Pražanová, Žaneta January 2018 (has links)
In 2017, pheromone traps were monitored for observed of the target and non-target species in the Mendel University Arboretum and Újezd u Černé Hory. Pheromones were used from Propher s.r.o. Pheromones for Grapholita funebrana (Treitschke, 1835), Grapholita molesta (Busck, 1916) and Pandemis heparana (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) were used. Six pheromone traps of the target species were hanged in the arboretum and three pheromone traps were hanged in the garden in Újezd u Černé Hory. Of the target species were found Grapholita funebrana and Grapholita molesta. Grapholita funebrana was found on both study areas. The Pandemis heparana was not recorded. The 10 non-target species have also been recorded: Cnephasia stephensiana (Doubleday, 1849); Epiblema cirsiana (Zeller, 1843); Pammene spiniana (Duponchel, 1843); Pammene suspectana (Lienig & Zeller, 1846); Pammene gallicolana (Lienig & Zeller, 1846); Tortrix viridana (Linnaeus, 1758); Oegoconia novimundi (Busck, 1915); Yponomeuta malinellus (Zeller, 1838); Crassa unitella (Hübner, 1796) and Argiresthia trifasciata (Staudinger, 1871). In the traps were recorded 270 individuals non-target species. The most attractive pheromone for non-target species was the pheromone for Grapholita molesta. The pheromone for Grapholita molesta was the most attractive pheromone for non-target species. In traps were recorded the pheromone of Grapholita molesta with 181 individuals of 7 non-target species. In traps were recorded the pheromone of Grapholita funebrana with 83 individuals of 7 non-target species. Six individuals of 3 non-target species were recorded in pheromone traps with pheromone for Pandemis heparana.

Dopady přijetí eura na přímé investice zemí Střední a Východní Evropy

Hutař, Stanislav January 2019 (has links)
Hutař, S. Impact of the adoption of Euro on direct investments of CEE countries. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2019. The diploma thesis deals with the impacts of the adoption of Euro on direct investments of CEE countries. Impacts of the adoption of Euro on individual countries are identified using multivariate regression models. Panel data analysis is used to detect the impact of Euro adoption on direct investment in all selected countries. The results point to a statistically significant impact of Euro adoption on foreign direct investment inflows both for individual countries and for the general panel model as well. The conclusion of this theses is that an important factor is the period when countries decided to adopt the Euro.

Speciace rodu Lethrus (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) ve východním středomoří / Speciation of the genus Lethrus (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) of the eastern mediterranean

Drožová, Dana January 2011 (has links)
Earth-boring dung beetles of the genus Lethrus Scopoli, 1777 belong to the family Geotrupidae, classified into three subfamilies (Geotrupinae, Lethrinae a Taurocerastinae). The description of about 120 species, divided into nine subgenera, is based on morphology and geographic distribution. Shape of mandibles, ventral mandible processes, pronotum and structure of external male genitalia are used as diagnostic morphological characters for taxa. The richest species diversity is known from Central Asia. The distribution area reaches, in the east, up to Mongolia and China, and in the west, up to Southeast Europe. All species are robust, relatively large flightless beetles with low dispersial ability. They feed on parts of fresh plants instead of feces like other dung beetles. Master thesis is focused on the species distributed in the Eastern Mediterranean and Central Europe. This area is inhabited only by nominotypical subgenus Lethrus. The main goal of thesis is to clear up phylogenetic relationships between species of subgenus and speciation events using molecular genetic methods. We have examined 91 samples of the genus Lethrus using two mitochondrial genes - cytochrome b (382 bp, 80 sequences), cytochrome oxidase I (815 bp, 87 sequences) and nuclear gene 28S rDNA (D2-D5) (1100 bp, 11 sequences)....

Reflexe Východoslováků na rok 1989. Životopisná vyprávění / Eastern Slovaks' reflections of the year 1989. Biographical narratives

Kohoutová, Klára January 2015 (has links)
This diploma work deals with the reflections of Slovak citizens for 1989's, focusing at the region of Košice city and the surrounding area, especially eastern Slovakia. The fall of the communist regime influenced the further development of the whole of Czechoslovakia. Diploma work focuses at the Slovak nation, which is an integral part of Czechoslovak history, but Czech knowledge of Slovak region is severely restricted. Memories and stories of Eastern Slovak habitants are building blocks of this thesis used to factually illustrate that time. In addition, thesis is based both on the available literature sources and archival materials from the collections of the State Regional Archives in Košice city. The theoretical part of work is based on historical sources and results of various researches on November '89. The research part of the diploma work deals with views, opinions and attitudes of Eastern Slovak's participants of November 1989. Interviews with narrators are analyzed and interpreted using oral history methods. This diploma work aims to reflect the everyday life of people, their work and living conditions before and after November '89. The impact of entrepreneurship on economic performance in Central and Eastern Europe

Chiselita, Doina January 2015 (has links)
Entrepreneurship is viewed by scholars and policy makers as an important factor contributing to increased levels of economic performance. New businesses are conduits of innovation, connecting resources and ideas within the economy and fostering competition. Central and Eastern Europe is a special case regarding entrepreneurship, due to its communist legacy. The surge in entrepreneurial activities caused by the process of market liberalization ultimately affected economic development in the area. This thesis acknowledges the importance of studying entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe, and aims to analyse the impact of new business formation on economic performance in the region. To do so, the thesis creates a comprehensive guide of theoretical frameworks linking entrepreneurship to measures of economic performance and applies them to the Central and Eastern European area. The thesis also develops an empirical study using regression analysis with regional Eurostat data, which shows that new business formation has a significant, positive impact on GDP levels in Central and Eastern Europe. The results also indicate that entrepreneurial activity should be regarded by policy makers as an important factor that leads to increased economic performance, in addition to measures of research and...

Innovation Benefits from European Union Ascendancy: An Econometric Analysis. / Innovation Benefits from European Union Ascendancy: An Econometric Analysis.

Nguyen, Lisa January 2016 (has links)
This paper investigates the benefits of joining the European Union (EU) and its impact on innovation for two indicators: patents and R&D expenditure. Based on a sample size of 27 countries within the EU observed over the time period 1996 to 2013 and utilising the GMM, FE and OLS models, I showed that, overall, entry into the EU has provided substantial benefits. Nevertheless, not all of the indicators of EU benefits are significant and sometimes did not provide positive impact on innovative activities. My evidence also suggests that with a further breakdown into two different regions, Western and Eastern Europe, there is a further rift in gains. Financial integration, for starters, has had a negative impact on innovation for both Western and Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, for the entire EU, financial integration has a positive impact on the number of patents filed. I also showed that another benefit of joining the EU, free movement of labour, has a negative and significant effect on both innovative indicators. This is consistent with the idea not all benefits of the EU provide a positive impact on innovation. Further research is warranted due to the insufficient time period.

China's Outward FDI in Central and Eastern Europe / China's Outward FDI in Central and Eastern Europe

Li, Wenjie January 2016 (has links)
China's emergence as one of the largest FDI source country has attracted global attention. There are many researches on the determinants and characteristics of China's outward FDI, but there are only few researches about China's outward FDI in CEE countries. Based on the dataset, which comprises data of 11 CEE EU member states over the period 2003-2014, this thesis investigates the determinants and patterns of China's outward FDI in CEE-11 countries by using a panel data technique. The regression results reveal that for the whole sample period, culture proximity and existing trade relation have significantly positive impacts and China's FDI in CEE-11 is negatively associated with the institution environment of host country. And the results also demonstrate that determinants of China's FDI in CEE-11 change over time. Besides, political relation is also an important influential factor and policy makers should put more effort to strengthen the bilateral cooperation.

Dopad finanční krize na export zemí střední a východní Evropy / The impacts of financial crisis on exports of Central and East European countries

Zhang, Wen January 2020 (has links)
