The ashwaiyat or informal areas in contemporary Egypt are vast residential areas built during the last several decades without any means of regulation or following principles of physical planning. They gradually came to existence because of the continuing migration from the countryside to cities and by natural population growth. The newcomers, who were not able to find adequate housing in accordance with their economic possibilities, started to build their houses on private agricultural land which was not intended for building purposes, or on state desert land, to which they had no legal tenure rights. Any infrastructure in such areas was constructed relying solely on self-help. Despite the fact that the ashwaiyat phenomenon has grown substantially, it has not been addressed nor treated officialy until recently. Firstly, the formation and growth of the informal settlements with a focus on Egypt's capital, Cairo, is discussed. Further analyses are made regarding the hardships and poverty endured by its inhabitants using tangible evidence to illustrate specifics and everyday reality in some of Egypt's ashwaiyat. It is focused primarily on the resurgence of streets, public spaces, waterfront of Svitava river, construction of areas for housing in the form of block of houses and revitalization of Cejl street. Project is designed according to contemporary urban design principles and eliminates the degree of flooding by automobile traffic in Brno city centre.

Subject of this diploma thesis is to design structural system of multifunctional building in Brno. This apartment building has 4 storey. Main load-bearing elements are concrete ceilings, columns and beams in first and second storey. In third and fourth storey are main load-bearing elements masonry and concrete ceilings with beams. Also there is prestressed beam in first storey. The structure was assessed for ultimate and serviceability limit state acording to standarts and regulation. Drawings and drawings of construction are part of the diploma thesis.

The largest post-war economic crisis, which began spreading to the world in the second half of 2008, hit all sectors negatively. An important lesson from the analysis of the crisis is not its causes, but rather the reference to the drawbacks of globalization, in the form of dismantling the consequences of this crisis. Building industry is a specific branch of the Czech economy, which has responded to the outbreak, the course and the retreat of crisis, in a unique way. Both pre-investment and investment phases of a construction project are time-consuming, resulting in a delayed response - inertia, to changes in the state of the economy that are reflected in aggregate demand from which demand for construction output is derived. The thesis focuses mainly on the development market, where it focuses in detail on evolution of housing construction in the pre-crisis, crisis and post-crisis period. The set of incorrect steps, decisions and inactivity of residential developers caused a unique phenomenon - the house-offer crisis. Therefore, the result of the work is methodological recommendations - a set of steps whose observation should reduce the negative effects of the crisis on the construction industry and avoid the re-emergence of the house-offer crisis. Economic cycles give us two assurances: each growth is followed by fall and vice versa. Nowadays it is not possible to predict the causes of the future crisis or its length, but it is important to prepare for it.

The theoretical part is dedicaded to the explanation of terms associated with the investment, the investment project, the price determination and valuation of the real estates. There are also explained the terms related to the development projects and the real estate market. At last but not least, the theoretical part clarifies, how is the tax burden applicated to the practical part. The practical part is dedicated to the options such as sale, rent and partical sale of the real structural object, which is located in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. In conclusion, all of the variants are appraised for every city.

The diploma thesis focuses on the ecological influences in the construction of a family house. The subject is to compare the properties of alternative building materials, determine the cost of building a house and design the optimal way of financing housing for a fictional married couple. Explains basic concepts, namely ecological aspects in construction, project management of buildings, pricing in construction, housing finance. The following practical part compares building materials in terms of their properties and environmental impacts during production, determines the costs of acquisition and operation of a family house and then finds out whether it is possible to finance the construction of the house through a mortgage loan. At the end of the work evaluates what percentage will increase the cost of building a house in the case of the use of materials, the production of which produces less negative emissions. Finally, the optimal variant of housing financing is recommended.

This work deals with the modern trends in FTTX, but mainly focuses on FTTH, who represents the connecting of fiber to the homes of the participants. Sum up the basic problems of communication on the optical fibre, followed by comparison with other types of access networks. Another part is the analysis of the problems of construction and a description of the optical network topologies and technologies used in FTTH. In following chapter are characterized active and passive elements forming AON and PON networks. Next part deals with the study of the most common services that can be on the optical access network to operate. They are mainly associated with the TriplePlay services. An integral part of the project is the study of management and supervision optical networks. In the main part is created real model situation where is the requirement for the creation of optical access networks with broadband of TriplePlay, followed by selection of appropriate options and detailed project with a selection of active and passive elements with economic balance.
