Polarizace vakua v Coulombickém poli / Polarizace vakua v Coulombickém poli

Šimsa, Daniel January 2013 (has links)
In the present work the vacuum polarization and the circular dichroism of hydrogen-like atoms are studied. We derive equations for the Fourier transforma- tion of the vacuum expectation value of the charge density. We use it to derive Uehling potential and calculate energy shifts caused by it. Then we discuss effects of vacuum polarization in higher orders of α. In second part we define circular dichroism and we express it in terms of reduced matrix elements. Then we derive the formula for parity vilating potential which is generated by weak interaction and together with other results we use it to find the expression for circular dichro- ism in terms of hydrogen radial functions. 1

Instantóny a unitárni neekvivalentní kvantová vakua / Instantons and Unitarily Inequivalent Quantum Vacua

Derco, Roman January 2012 (has links)
Title: Instantons and Unitarily Inequivalent Quantum Vacua Author: Roman Derco Department: Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics Supervisor: doc. Alfredo Iorio, Ph.D., Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics Abstract: In the presented thesis we investigate the relationship between the topologically distinct instantonic vacua and the unitarily inequivalent vacua of the quantum field theory. We focus on quantum mechanical exam- ples, where instantons appear but the complications due to quantum gauge field theory are absent. A model for quantum dissipation and the theory of one particle escaping from a metastable minimum were compared, what led to some observations. A double well system was build from harmonic oscillators and an interaction term to get closer to the quantum dissipation model, where inequivalent representations are involved. We identified the particularly simple model of a quantum particle constrained on a circle to be the ideal toy model for spotting the relation among unitarily inequivalent vacua and topologically distinct vacua we were seeking for. 1

Jemné efekty v atomech a molekulách / Subtle Effects in Atmos and Molecules

Šimsa, Daniel January 2018 (has links)
The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with radiative cor- rections in muonic hydrogen. The effect of vacuum polarization is studied, and the simplified derivation of the Wichmann-Kroll potential is presented. The en- ergy shift caused by vacuum polarization to the Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen is calculated and it agrees with results in literature. Further, the concept of the extended Bethe logarithm is introduced and its advantages are shown and used to calculate the combined self-energy vacuum polarization contribution to the Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen. The results given here are more accurate and somewhat different from others given in literature. In the second part, the ground-state en- ergy splitting due to the tunneling in a two-dimensional double-well potential is calculated. A systematic WKB expansion of the energy splitting is given. An in- terplay between curvature of the classical tunneling path and quantum nature of motion is observed. A series is found that describes systems with strong coupling like the proton transfer in malonaldehyde. The results show a strong sensitivity of the splitting on slight variations of the parameters entering the Hamiltonian linearly. This indicates a presence of quantum chaos in this problem. 1

Open strings in magnetic background fields

Körs, Boris 24 July 2001 (has links)
We discuss various aspects of internal magnetic background fields in open string theories. Phenomenologically and conceptually interesting properties of such string theory backgrounds, supersymmetry and gauge symmetry breaking, chiral fermion spectra and noncommutativity of the internal compactification manifolds, are treated in a rather generic framework. We then specialize to type I compactifications on tori and toroidal orbifolds with magnetic fields on the internal space. This allows to develop a strategy for constructing type I vacua with attractive low energy field theories which may either be supersymmetric or not and contain chiral spectra and gauge groups close to the Standard Model or some grand unified generalization thereof. The most sophisticated version uses magnetic fields and NSNS B-fields on orbifold spaces giving rise to a plethora of promising examples for semi-realistic string compactifications. We finally also present a related class of asymmetric orbifolds of type I which are of little phenomenological interest but still display certain interesting features. The asymmetric rotations which are gauged in these models identify D-branes with different values for the magnetic field on their world volume, such that the distinction of commutative and noncommutative internal geometries is lost.

Rušič vakua parních turbín / Steam turbine vacuum breaker

Kalivodová, Markéta January 2020 (has links)
In this master’s thesis, a preliminary thermodynamic calculation of the turbine is made. Then, the design and location of the vacuum breaker is devised for this turbine. The aim of the master’s thesis is to calculate a time needed to break the vacuum, ie to determine how long it takes to reach the atmospheric pressure inside the turbine and add-on devices. To verify and improve the accuracy of the calculation there are data measured on real projects used.

Charakterizace autoemisních zdrojů pro elektronovou mikroskopii / Characterisation for the cold field-emission sources intended for electron microscopy

Vašíček, Martin January 2013 (has links)
This work deals with the theoretical foundations of electron emission into vacuum, various types of emissions, focused on the cold-emission and Schottky emission and the principle of quantum tunneling. The next part deals with the technical implementation of electron sources with a detailed study of the methodology of laboratory production of cathodes by electrochemical etching and construction of electron microscopes, using field-emission sources. This work also contains methods for measuring, processing and evaluation of electrical characteristics of emission sources.
