This diploma thesis is about recreational activities of citizens of Prague in the period from the second half of 19th century through the second half of 20th century. It focuses on the era of industrialization, in which the suburban landscape underwent many changes, mainly thanks to new development of the city. This thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is dedicated to the terms of industrialization and industrial revolution. It moreover deals with stratification of the society, focusing on the middle class, and describes recreational activities in different resorts. From the recreational activities, tramping and settlement establishing are specifically described. The empirical part is dedicated to two recreational resorts, Karlštejn and Srbsko, which are one train station apart from each other. In each case there is a description of the location of the resort. The description of the original inhabitants, recreational objects, current inhabitants and their important buildings and the cottage areas is following. One chapter is about a particular tramping settlement in Srbsko called "Valley of Dread". Esta dissertação trata sobre a invenção, constituição e sucessivas renovações da Vila Balneária do Guarujá, inaugurada no ano de 1893, evidenciando o estreito vínculo entre a expansão territorial paulista e os avanços tecnológicos, o desejo pela diversificação de investimentos de parte da elite cafeicultora, o avanço de novas práticas sociais e o crescente transito de ideias do Mundo Atlântico, que articula o litoral brasileiro à Europa setentrional, a pontos específicos do cone sul e sobretudo à costa noroeste dos EUA. Elevando o lazer à posição de centralidade no processo de expansão urbana, a Vila Balneária construída na Ilha de Santo Amaro, ao longo dos primeiros 20 anos de sua existência, pode contribuir para a compreensão da complexidade inerente ao processo de urbanização do território paulista. A ênfase no modo como as práticas culturais se relacionam dialeticamente com o processo de urbanização se constitui como chave interpretativa para a leitura do empreendimento e é a partir dessa relação de interpendência que se estudarão os discursos que embasam a conformação da Vila, presentes em sua arquitetura e urbanismo. São ressaltados dessa forma aspectos que buscam reconstruir o universo desse novo invento e dão concretude ao projeto de modernização do território paulista. / This work approaches the invention, constitution and succesives renovations of the Guarujá Seaside Village, inaugurated in 1893, stressing the close link between the territorial expansion of São Paulo and technological advancements, the desire for diversification of investments by the coffee producers, the advance of new social practices, and the growing transit of ideas between the Atlantic World, connecting Brazilian coast with northern Europe, specific points of the Southern Cone and most of all with the northeast coast of United States. Raising leisure to a central role in the process of urban expansion, the beach resort city built on the Santo Amaro island may contribute to the understanding of the complexity inherent to the process of urbanization in the state of São Paulo. The emphasis on the way in which cultural practices relate dialectically to the process of urbanization constitutes an interpretive key for the comprehension of the whole development. The arguments that support the conformation of the village, present in its architecture and urbanism, will be therefore analyzed based on this interdependent and mutual relationship. Aspects that seek to rebuild the universe of this new invention will be emphasized and, thus, give concreteness to the project of modernization of the territory of São Paulo.

This degree work is devoted to the problems of recreational activities of Prague dwellers and interrelated change of the suburban landscape in the period of industrialisation. Particularly this work explores the period of 2nd half of 19th century and 1st decades of 20th century. In the theoretical part is briefly characterised the term industrialisation and relating term of the industrial revolution and further on this part is devoted to establishing and historical roots of recreational and leisure-time activities. The following chapter deals with the recreation in common in the period of industrialisation and relating particular chapter about the recreational activities of Prague dwellers in the explored periods. Theoretical part is concluded by the summary of scientifical study that explored the interwar Hradišťko summer resort. This study has served as an inspiration for the particular exploring mentioned in the empirical part of this work. This one is devoted to the conditions of the establishing and development of Prague- suburban Božkov summer resort in the interwar period. The conslusion of this work is devoted to genesis comparison of Hradišťko and Božkov summer resort.

O presente trabalho procurou analisar a fundação da Estação de Banhos da Villa Sequeira no final do século XIX sob o olhar da modernidade, suas consequências para a cidade de Rio Grande e as transformações que ocorreram no balneário ao longo de meio século de história. Nossa narrativa enfocou o desejo dos homens em usufruir dos banhos de mar, seus benefícios terapêuticos e as diferentes formas de viver os espaços de lazer das estações balneares. Apresentamos o cenário da Villa Sequeira, um local construído para os lazeres das elites, mas que passou a ser vivenciado por vários segmentos sociais e dessa forma, constituiu-se em uma estação balnear para \"todos\", popularizando os banhos de mar e a vilegiatura marítima na região sul do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Objetivando enfocar os aspectos gerais que envolveram os veraneios no \"Cassino\" apresentamos as diversas formas de sociabilidade representadas por seus frequentadores no espaço da praia, da avenida, e em locais privados, como os hotéis, os salões de festas e bailes e a Sociedade Amigos do Cassino (SAC). / The present work analyzed the foundation of \"Estação de Banhos da Villa Sequeira\" in the end of the XIX century in a modern point of view, the consequences for the city of Rio Grande and the transformations that happened in the beach during a half century of history. Our narrative focused in the desire of men to enjoy the sea baths, their therapeutic benefits and the different ways to live the leisure places of the beaches. We show the scene of Villa Sequeira, a place built for elite leisure, but that was lived for several social classes and, in this way, contributed for the popularization of the sea bath and for the maritime \"La villegiatura\" in the south region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Aiming to focus in the general aspects that evolved the vacances in Cassino we show the several ways of sociability demonstrated by its visitors in the beach space, in the avenue, and in private locals, as hotels, party saloons and balls and the Sociedade Amigos do Cassino (SAC).

This diploma thesis deals with the recreational activities of the inhabitants of Prague and their influence on the transformation of the suburban landscape at the time of industrialization. It characterizes the time period from the mid-19th century to the 40s of the 20th century. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part, it deals with the period of industrialization and, in connection with it, also with the industrial revolution. Further, the work is devoted to concrete manifestations of mass and individual recreation in the 19th century and consequently demographic growth of the inhabitants on the Czech territory, development of the middle class, establishment of the resort and the origin and importance of the Beautification Committee. The theoretical part ends with the characteristics of summer flats and other manifestations of individual and mass recreation until the middle of the 20th century. The empirical part deals with the characteristic, natural, geomorphological and historical development of Senohraby village. The main part of the work focuses on the development of recreational buildings from the 1918s to the 40s of the 20th century on the basis of archive materials.
