We tried to indentif y the conception of science of the investigated teachers and the origin of the science in some text books adopted by these teachers. Initially, we talked about the different paradigmatic conceptions of the sciences' nature and the y implications for the sci ence teaching. In this investigation, we adopted a qualitative approach composed by content analysis and, as instruments of investigation; we used a questionnaire and a semi- structured interview. We discover ed that teacher s speech is often contradictory what indicates they don't really have a science vision established, and at the same time, they corrobate the conceptions presents in the text books, with are predominantly empiricism- inductive based. / O presente estudo investigou as concepções sobre ciência de um grupo de professores que atua na ár ea de Física (Ensino Médio) em escolas públicas e particular es na cidade de Goiânia GO e sua relação com os livros didáticos.Procuramos identificar a concepção de ciência dos professores pesquisados e a natureza da ciência presente em alguns livros didáticos adotados por estes professores. Inicialmente discutimos difer entes concepções paradigmáticas de natureza da ciência e suas implicações para o ensino de ciências. Nesta investigação, adotamos uma abordagem qualitativa com análise de conteúdo e, como instrumentos de investigação, utilizamos questionár io e entrevista semiestruturada. Percebemos que os professores expressam visíveis contradições o que indica que eles não possuem uma visão de ciência constituída, ao mesmo tempo que, corroboram as concepções presentes nos livros didáticos, de caráter predominantemente empir ista- indutivista.
