Augustsson, Malin January 2013 (has links)

Assessing The Visiting Public's Perceptions Of The Outcomes Of Their Visit To Interactive Science And Technology CentresJohnston, David January 1999 (has links)
This study investigated the problem of how to assess the visiting public's perceptions of the outcomes of their visit to an Interactive Science and Technology Centre. The study was carried out in several phases. First the researcher immersed himself as a participant observer over 15 months in the day-to-day activities of a science centre. Second, data to describe perceptions of visit outcomes were collected from one-to-one interviews with randomly selected visitors and professional staff, and four focus groups of explainers and visitors. Third, these data were used to structure the collection of further descriptions, in visitors' own words, about the visit experience. In the fourth and fifth stages, data from the second and third stages were pooled to develop two new instruments, the Perceptions of Visit Impact Instrument, a semantic differential survey designed to be administered at the point of exit from a science centre, and the Profile of Visit Outcomes Instrument, a nine part survey designed to be administered several weeks after the visit. The two instruments were refined through local review and field testing, and replication using data from large samples of randomly selected visitors at five and three centres, respectively, in Australia and New Zealand. Staff at these centres found the instruments easy to use and considered that they provided valuable data. Implications are drawn for future use of the instruments for evaluation and research.

Health Promotion in Older Adults: A Look at Medicare Annual Welnness VisitsChappell, Kathryn Anna, Chappell, Kathryn Anna January 2017 (has links)
The objective of this DNP project was to highlight the significant impact of health promotion in older adults. As of January 2011, Medicare covers an Annual Wellness Visit (AWV), which is a result of the Affordable Care Act. The AWV allows patients the benefit of receiving covered wellness and preventive care services. Through surveys this project explored what healthcare providers and patients know about the Medicare AWV and what barriers and/or challenges they have experienced with the AWV. The responses to the surveys revealed that providers have misconceptions about the Medicare AWV and some of the patients did not know that Medicare part B offers a covered annual wellness visit. There were several barriers identified by both patients and providers and these barriers will be discussed and explored in this paper.

Hodnocení vlivu návštěvnosti na vybrané jeskyně s využitím GIS / Assessing the impact of attendance on the selected caves using GISKukla, Jaroslav January 2013 (has links)
Caves are valuable sites from geological , palaeontological and biological point of view. They are important biotopes of rare and endangered species. Their ecosystem is quite specific and often very independent on environment. Therefore, the caves since the beginning of science have been the subject of research , and gradually also the subject of protection. Caves can also be very attractive objects of interest of tourism. In the Czech Republic there are 14 open to the public karst caves that have regulated attendance, and their access time is subordinated to the interests of nature conservation. On the other hand, there are also a number of caves that are not secured in any way and may be a target of unregulated tourism. This dissertation discusses the evaluation and the impact of attendance on non-karst caves in the National Nature Reserve Canyon Labe, which are freely accessible. I divided the work into three parts. In the first part I dealt with quantifying the attendance of all caves in the area of interest, On the basis of collected data, I made a selection of caves , which I later focused on. In the second part of my work I focused on obtaining information about the visitors and their motivations using public inquiry survey in selected caves, In the third part I tried to analyze the impact...

The Monthly Nursing Home Visit: Does Use of a Template Improve The Quality of the Visit?Hill-O'Neill, Kathleen Anne, Hill-O'Neill, Kathleen Anne January 2017 (has links)
As the baby boomer population continues to age, the number of older adults in the United States continues to rise as well, which has and will continue to result in an ongoing increase in the nursing home population. Challenges in nursing home care include assuring the provision of comprehensive quality care, person centered care, and continuity of care. This DNP project evaluated a comprehensive template for nurse practitioners to use when completing monthly nursing home visits that would help address these challenges. The purpose of this project was to evaluate nurse practitioner satisfaction regarding the effectiveness of the tool in assuring comprehensive, quality and patient centered care when completing monthly nursing home visits. This was accomplished via a descriptive analysis of 10 nurse practitioners providing care in nursing homes. A Likert scale questionnaire was used before and after the nurse practitioners used the tool for a period of two months. All 10 participants agreed or strongly agreed that they would recommend the tool for use by nurse practitioners when completing monthly nursing home visits. Seven of the participants agreed or strongly agreed that the tool helped improve overall quality of the visit. The results demonstrated that the monthly nursing home assessment tool was beneficial in improving the quality of the visits and that there are future implications for use of the tool by not only nurse practitioners who practice in this setting but also for nurse practitioner students and physicians.

The Impact of the NIHERST/NGC National Science Centre, Trinidad and Tobago on Visiting Student GroupsChariandy, Celeste Marie-Ange January 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study was to asses the impact of a visit to the NIHERST/NGC National Science Centre in Trinidad on four different school-age visitor groups. The research was conducted through the administering of a post-visit questionnaire immediately upon completion of each visit by each group, and via visitor feedback obtained in post-visit or pre-visit activities conducted within two weeks of the visit for three groups. Teachers/instructors who accompanied the groups on their visit also completed post-visit questionnaires and provided additional information on follow-up activities via an interview. The results of this investigation suggest that the visit to this science centre provided entertainment/enjoyment value and potential educational value to most individuals. The nature of this enjoyment was noted for various age groups and genders in this study. Quantification of the educational impact was not possible within the constraints of this study, which was unable to capture long-term effects of the supply of ‘new knowledge’ to visitors which the visit to the science centre had provided.
