Análisis de casos de éxito de packagings con soluciones inclusivas para personas con discapacidad visual en España y Latinoamérica, con proyección a su desarrollo en el contexto de Lima, Perú / Analysis of success cases of packaging with inclusive solutions for people with visual disabilities in Spain and Latin America, with the projection of their development in the Peruvian context

Vargas Párraga, Tamara 04 December 2020 (has links)
The objective of the investigation was to analyze the usability of inclusive packaging for people with visual impairment when making purchases in supermarkets, with the projection of developing them in Peru. The hypothesis with which the research began was that the existence of inclusive packaging in Peru would facilitate the shopping experience of people with visual disabilities, as well as the development of their autonomy. The samples were selected for convenience and under the concept of "snowball". The first one was limited to studies about inclusive packaging of Spanish or Latin American origin, while for the second one, the selected population was Peruvians with visual disabilities. The connection with them was achieved thanks to the Association Yo Soy Tus Ojos. Between the results obtained, it is found that all the packagings mentioned in the studies that were reviewed present braille as an inclusive method and only one presents high relief at the same time. However, the total number of people interviewed consider that high relief is a more accessible option for people with visual impairments than braille. It was concluded that, in fact, the implementation of inclusive solutions to packaging would facilitate the shopping experience for Peruvians with visual disabilities. In addition, it can be affirmed that this solution would be just one of the ones that should be developed in order to minimize the barriers that exist for people with special abilities in Peru. / Trabajo de investigación

Centro de educación para invidentes y débiles visuales / Education center for the blind and visually impaired

Rivera Vicente, Angie Estefany 26 May 2021 (has links)
Currently in the country, the educational level of people with disabilities is basic, there is a lack of spaces for the education and recreation of people with visual disabilities or of any other type. In Lima, there are only 3 educational centers for the blind population at school, which continues to be a problem, since not all of them attend regularly because they live in other remote districts. That is why the thesis project is an Education Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, located in San Juan de Lurigancho, a district in which the majority of the visually impaired population is found. In this project, neuroarchitecture was analyzed and developed through the design of educational spaces that respond to the basic spatial needs of a blind person with total or partial blindness, from a legible accessibility, to generating sensations within the space itself that allows it to be recognized by its other senses. In this way, it is also integrated into nature as a guide, through the haptic, auditory and olfactory sense. This project seeks to break the taboo of an excluded population who, by requiring some type of special attention, due to a disability, see them as incapable of carrying out daily activities, when we all deserve to have spaces that promote our development / Tesis

Genit-Chavarri, Michael, Natteri-Alvarado, Doménica 15 March 2022 (has links)
Background Depression is a mental illness that affects approximately 264 million people worldwide. It is associated with a minor quality of life, in comparison with people who do not have this pathology, especially in senior adult cases. In the other hand, from 45 to 50 years old, people become prone to develop senile cataract caused by crystalline lens opacification. This generates a reduction of visual acuity, among other symptoms, and is one of the main causes of blindness in developing countries. However, it is considered that more specific information is needed about the different types of visual impairment generated by cataracts and their association with moderate depressive symptoms, as well as their performance depending on the area of residency because of the breach of the existing information. Objective The present study was intended to identify the association between the reduction of the distance and/or near visual performance and depressive symptoms in senior adults aged 60 with cataract. Methods This was a secondary cross-sectional analytical of the Peruvian Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES for its Spanish acronym) 2014-2018. The selection criterion consisted in adults older than 60 years old, with a report of cataract diagnosis made by a specialist, who answered questions about depressive symptoms and decreased distance vision. The decrease in near and distant visual acuity was measured through questions about difficulty to see and recognize the face of a person standing at approximately 6 meters, and the difficulty to read a text or clearly see an image at the distance of an extended arm during the last 12 months. The self-report answers were categorized as “only near”, “only distant”, “both” and “none” visual impairment. The outcome variable, depressive symptoms, was measured through the PHQ-9 with a cutoff point of 10 out of 27 to classify for presence or absence of moderate depressive symptoms or more. The association between visual impairment and depression was estimated by using multivariate models with crude and adjusted ratios through Poisson GLM with a Log link. A general adjusted model and a stratified one were made according to the place of residency. The results were presented as prevalence ratios Results In patients older than 60 years old with a diagnosis of cataract, regarding the prevalence of difficulty to see, 47.5% did not have any difficulty to see from near or distance, 15.5% reported difficulty to see only from near, 9.9% only from distance and 27.2% difficulty for both distances. In addition, the prevalence of moderate depressive symptoms in the same population was 15.4%, being 8.2% moderate depressive symptoms, 4.6% moderately severe and 2.6% severe. Making an adjusted model, the persons with difficulty to see from distance had a 68% more probability to present moderate depressive symptoms or more (RPa=1,68, I.C. 95%: 1,13-2,50, p=0.011), meanwhile persons with difficulty in both distances have 80% more probability in comparison with persons that did not have visual difficulty (RPa=1.80, I.C 95%: 1.37-2.37, p<0.001). Considering the stratified and adjusted models by area of residency, we found that in the urban area, there is 87% more probability to have moderate depressive symptoms or more when there is difficulty to see from distance (RPa=1.95, I.C. 95%: 1.32-2.90, p=0.001). However, in the rural area, only the visual impairment in both measurements resulted to have 41% higher probability to have moderate depressive symptoms or more (RPa=1,41%, I.C. 95%: 1.05-1.89, p=0.022). Conclusion The association between visual impairment from distance only and the distance and near visual impairment with major depressive symptomatology in older adults with cataract was recognized. An increasing gradualness, with a major probability that at least moderate depressive symptoms appear in older adults that have both impairments simultaneously was also identified. Furthermore, when we stratified the adjustment by urban and rural areas; we can see that the same pattern is followed in the urban area. However, in the rural area, we can see that just persons with both difficulties have moderate and higher depressive symptoms. / Tesis

The effect of technology assisted therapy for adults with intellectual and visual impairment suffering from separation anxiety and challenging behaviour / Nadia Hoffman

Hoffman, Nadia January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a new intervention method, Technology Assisted Therapy for Separation Anxiety (TTSA), on the psychosocial functioning and quality of life of persons with intellectual and visual disability who experience separation anxiety and exhibit challenging behaviour. A pre-experimental within group design was used with randomised multiple baselines and staggered intervention start points. The data was collected at an institution in the Netherlands that provides long-term care and residence for persons with intellectual disability and visual impairment. Six participants took part in this study. This research was informed by Bowlby‟s attachment theory, which conceptualises the tendency of human beings to forge strong emotional bonds with others and explains how the disturbance of this bond might lead to various forms of emotional distress and personality disturbances. The interplay of separation anxiety and challenging behaviour with respect to the formation of attachment relationships provides the specific theoretical context in which this study is grounded. The results indicate that both the separation anxiety experienced and the challenging behaviour exhibited by the participants decreased significantly after the implementation of TTSA. Their psychosocial functioning and quality of life also increased significantly. This study demonstrates the first successful application of TTSA to treat separation anxiety and challenging behaviour in persons with intellectual and visual disability. TTSA therefore has the potential to be a valid intervention to address these disorders.

Castro Mesias, Hilda Guadalupe 01 December 2020 (has links)
This research analyzes the environmental signage and graphic design system of the Metro de Lima and the way it impacts the mobility of people with visual disabilities. It seeks to analyze the characteristics of the system, identify the needs regarding its mobility and the mode of impact. It was proposed as a hypothesis that the environmental signage and graphic design system has deficiencies that have a social impact on the lives of people with visual disabilities. The most functional for this research is a qualitative approach, a space and a certain group are analyzed, through observation, field research, visual analysis and experiences. Visual documentation and frequency lists and checklists were collected. The main findings were that the system does indeed have deficiencies that make it a limited and non-inclusive service, causing inaccessibility to transportation. Consequently, there is a restriction of social participation, difficulty of being able to satisfy daily needs and desires. To conclude, the system does impact on the mobility of these people, affects their personal development by not being able to meet daily needs and their social and inclusive development since, through mobility in spaces there is interaction, such as doing activities or meet, talk, be with another. In addition, it is proposed to create a solution with a universal design, which is not exclusive to people with physical disabilities, but is suitable for everyone. / Trabajo de investigación

La experiencia del acceso cinematográfico para personas con discapacidad visual en el mercado peruano / The experience of film access for the visually impaired in the Peruvian market

Salazar Peña, Sebastian Alexander 01 September 2021 (has links)
Today we live in such a globalized world that the transmediality and immediacy of access to information makes social inclusion a highly relevant issue of interest. This, due to the constant need to coexist with information not only in a sense, as the word rightly says, informative, but also cultural and even entertainment (López & Ramírez, 2017). From this context, it follows directly that the word "equality" monopolizes so many spaces of conversation in various areas, among these, the recognition of the rights of women and children. However, it is also important to recognize an area that is neglected and needs to be a matter of public interest: accessibility for people with visual impairment. This research aims to investigate the experience of cinema access for people with visual impairment. To this end, it will identify and reflect on some solutions and experiences of accessibility for the consumption of films by visually impaired people in Peru, Latin America, and Europe. It will also seek to identify the Peruvian legislative framework that regulates access to cinema in terms of accessibility. Finally, an experience of accessibility to the alternative basic study group and reinforcement of the REHABILITATION CENTER FOR THE BLIND OF LIMA will be carried out using the audio description technique and the focus group instrument. The objective is to identify the accessibility experience of the participants.
