1	Survivors Of The Syrian War : In Wording Our Stories We Begin To Heal / زملائي الناجون من الحرب السورية : بصياغة قصصنا نبدأ بالشفاء Jaloul, Omaima January 2020 (has links) Traumas due to war and displacement vary in size and intensity. Ideally, one would seek support or help from a therapist or society, however, due to circumstantial reasons, it’s mostly impossible for refugees to get proper help, for example because of the language factor, the absence of family and friends, or the pressure to integrate and move on. This project explores the role of design and art in shedding light on the topic, as well as applying principles of psychology to offer support and representation to its target group of Syrian refugees in Europe. 2	Surviving War: The Congolese Refugee Experience Penner, Dawn A. 19 December 2012 (has links) A qualitative approach was taken to explore Canadian Congolese refugees’ experience of war trauma recovery. Six volunteers (three men and three women), who self-identified as traumatized by their experience of war in Congo and had lived in Canada for less than ten years, participated in in-depth interviews. Using a constructivist grounded theory approach to analysis, a core construct of Surviving War was identified. A hierarchical model of surviving war was developed that subsumed all other categories. By extrapolating principles from this model, a theory of Surviving War was developed which identifies factors that contribute to surviving war. Limitations of the current research are presented along with suggestions for further research.
