Cette étude vise à révéler l’histoire évolutive de l’image de la Manileña à l’aide des traces textuelles et iconographiques découvertes dans la presse écrite disponible à Manille de 1893 à 1938. Ainsi, nous pourrons décrire et comprendre les continuités et les ruptures des images et des représentations de la Manileña. Il est urgent de mieux comprendre comment les médias reproduisent et construisent socialement le genre. Cette recherche vise à mettre au jour les conséquences et les répercussions de la culture visuelle sur l’image du genre dans le contexte de la modernité et de l’urbanisation. Notre étude explore le croisement entre histoire, genre, médias, modernité et urbanisation dans la sphère publique, la sphère privée et toutes les sphères intermédiaires. Nous espérons que cette thèse contribuera à la compréhension de la formation des représentations dans un contexte colonial de modernisation et d’urbanisation rapides. / This study hopes to provide the evolving story of the Manileña image through the usage of text and iconography found in print media available in Manila from 1898-1938. Through this process, the narrative of the continuities and changes of the images and representations of the Manileña that were created and portrayed in the periodicals may be seen and understood. This study also seeks to examine the various issues, perspectives and concerns that cropped up due to the changes that occurred. There is a need to understand how media reproduce and socially construct gender. This research hopes to find out the implications of visual culture and its impact on a gendered image in the face of modernity and urbanization. The study will interrogate the intersection of history, gender, media, modernity and urbanization as it plays in the realms of the public sphere, the private sphere and the unnamed realms in between. The study will hopefully add to the understanding of image formation in a colonial context undergoing rapid modernity and urbanization.

From this context, from the instauration of the patriarchal and your high predominance, your resistance in some Brazil regions in the XX and XXI centuries, I make the analysis of the difficulties, the challenges of the protagonists characters faced in the Coutinho tales, published in 1970, 1985 and 2006, respectively. Baiana and one of the most important writers of fiction of the contemporary literature, Coutinho covers the in-transition woman, breaking with the conservatory standards and inserting themselves in the society. The analysis is held from the narrative spaces, that work like a clash between the submission and the character transgression. It was observed the feminine condition in these represented times in the tales, like how the feminine character lived in these different contexts, as well as your displacement of the provincial town to Rio de Janeiro, a developed city. With the feminine focus, the analysis explores the tales Nascimento de uma mulher (1970), O último verão de Copacabana (1985) and Ovelha Negra e Amiga Loura (2006) with theoretical reference based on the concepts of Brazilian feminism scholars, the history of the woman and their trajectory, Coelho (2002), Perrot (2007), Duarte (2011), Teles (1999), Xavier (1991), among other. Also with the theoretical contribution of Del Priore (2009; 2013), Velho (1973), Teixeira Coelho Netto (1981), Leiro (2003), Beauvoir (1970), Theories of literary space, literary theory,as well as articles, theses and dissertations about the theme. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal analisar as trajetórias de personagens femininas na obra de Sonia Coutinho bem como o embate que elas vivem entre “acatar velhos papéis” estabelecidos pelo patriarcalismo vivendo, portanto, submissas ou viver a “vocação de ser humano”, ou seja, viver livremente como sujeitos sociais. A partir do contexto da instauração do sistema patriarcal e de sua forte predominância, sua resistência em algumas regiões do Brasil ainda no século XX e XXI, analisa as dificuldades, os desafios enfrentados pelas personagens protagonistas dos contos de Coutinho, publicados em 1970, 1985 e 2006, respectivamente. Baiana, e uma das mais importantes ficcionistas da literatura contemporânea, Coutinho aborda a mulher em transição, rompendo com as normas conservadoras e se inserindo na sociedade. A análise é realizada a partir dos espaços da narrativa, que funcionam como embate entre a submissão e a transgressão das personagens. Foi observada a representação da condição das personagens femininas nos contos, como viviam nestes diferentes contextos, bem como seus deslocamentos da cidade provinciana para o Rio de Janeiro, cidade mais desenvolvida. Com foco feminista, a análise explora os contos de Nascimento de uma mulher (1970), O Último verão de Copacabana (1985) e Ovelha Negra e Amiga Loura (2006) com referência teórica respaldada nos conceitos de estudiosos do feminismo brasileiro, da história da mulher e sua trajetória, Coelho (2002), Perrot (2007), Duarte (2011), Teles (1999), Xavier (1991), dentre outras. Também com contribuições teóricas de Del Priore (2009; 2013), Velho (1973), Teixeira Coelho Netto (1981), Leiro (2003), Beauvoir (1970), teóricos do espaço literário, da teoria literária, bem como artigos, teses e dissertações acerca do tema.

O presente estudo buscou fazer uma releitura dos processos-crime na cidade de Caxias do Sul/RS, na década de trinta do século passado, que envolveram a violência contra o sexo feminino. Tomando os processos-crime como fonte, foram escolhidos os que continham os crimes de defloramento, estupro e violência sexual. O trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a trajetória da mulher caxiense vítima de violência, com enfoque no contexto social, político, cultural e organizacional, verificando, assim, as relações de trabalho e poder, condições de vida, educacional e sexual. Sendo o estudo de suma importância, pois nos reporta para a realidade atual, melhorando, assim, a compreensão das relações existentes entre os sexos. Realizou-se, também, um recorte sobre a legislação vigente na época em que ocorreram os crimes, abordouse um breve histórico sobre os processos-crime catalogados em Caxias do Sul. O estudo permeia a formação da Comarca de Caxias do Sul, seus primeiros habitantes, a imigração italiana, bem como o papel da mulher caxiense na sociedade e como ela foi apresentada na história, por meio do discurso e da prática de submissão e dependência. It is proposed the implementation in schools, the issue of gender equality and the approach of the school's role as agents of social transformation.

The diploma thesis named Gender Stereotypes in Contemporary British Period Drama. The Comparative Analysis of Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge compares the marks of gender stereotypes and conservative principles in British period drama series. The analysis of their clash with progress in society and technology during the first two decades of the 20th century is performed on the method of qualitative content analysis of two examples of popular contemporary British costume drama Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the concept regarding history in film. The main category of research is the work with female characters and their social roles in Edwardian Britain which is characterized by unprecedented social change. The objective of the thesis is to analyze the way a female character reflects stereotypes and conservative principles that are usually believed to be characteristic features of period drama series. Additional objective is to examine how the 21st century society is mirrored in manipulation with stereotypes and social values in the series.
