The focus and overall purpose of the study is to examine, from the perspective of employees, how supervisor leadership affects a work group. Furthermore, employees' experiences of leadership in the workplace and what they consider to be good leadership and what experiences they have of leadership in the workplace are examined. To obtain the empirical data for our study, we have used a qualitative method based on eight different informants in different occupational sectors. The theoretical perspective that the study is based on is Sveningsson and Alvesson's view of leadership (2010). It is complemented by two main concepts, transformational and transactional leadership (Northouse, 2013). To summarize, it can be noted how based on the empirical data, there are characteristics and leadership styles for supervisors that are beneficial in the workplace. Furthermore, trust, inclusion, security, dialogue, consideration and respect should characterize the workplace for leadership to be perceived as good.
