The neighborhood as a locus of social and symbolic practices contribute to the
strengthening of affective ties present in the man and place. According, this discussion
seek to contribute to the understanding of identity, from the social and symbolic inherent in
the place which the man appears as the main subject. For this purpose, this research found
to be analyzed, the neighborhood of Pontal da Barra, neck of land between the pond
Mundaú and the Atlantic Ocean, is located southwest of Maceió, in the Estuarine-Lagoon
Mundaú Manguaba, located in the sandy coastal capital of Alagoas. This neighborhood is
set as the main element for understanding the formation and characterization of identity
considering not only the physical peculiarities of a district, but also the values in context
impregnated city and especially those that refer to symbolic and historical relations.
It stated that all findings made in this study had the methodological contributions to oral
history, for being a tool to encourage the transmission of values through the feelings and
views the individual absorbs the world. The debates were directed to the key features and
elements that worked / work in the design and dynamics of Pontal da Barra improving the
identity and emphasized in the reports and the perception of individuals: the residents -
whereas the elderly residents at the site (by addressing the experiences as source of
enrichment of contemporary relationships), its history and its social life. Before any
analysis performed to expose the identity of the neighborhood was characterized by the
presence of strong affective ties, relations with the landscape, and in the production of
social space and history even with the inclusion of new meanings and values. So, from that
"uncover" the stories of several pontalenses, we could also demonstrate the strong opinion
of these people have with the place because it is introduced into the world of being
neighbor to be friend, be pontalense who understood and identified the essence of its
uniqueness and of course, your identity
This study expands the existing benchmarks both with regard to the history of the place,
and the identification of its natural elements, with still relevant information about who
lives, and relates to form and belong here. / Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Alagoas / O bairro enquanto lócus da vida social e das práticas simbólicas contribui para o
fortalecimento dos elos afetivos presentes na relação homem e lugar. Nesta perspectiva, tal
reflexão buscou contribuir para a apreensão da identidade, a partir das relações sociais e
simbólicas inerentes ao lugar, a qual o homem aparece como principal sujeito. Para tal
intento, essa investigação considerou como objeto de análise, o bairro do Pontal da Barra,
braço de terra entre a Lagoa Mundaú e o Oceano Atlântico, situa-se a sudoeste de Maceió,
no Complexo Estuarino Lagunar de Mundaú- Manguaba, situado na região de restinga da
capital alagoana. O referido bairro é posto como principal elemento para entender a
formação e caracterização dessa identidade considerando não só as peculiaridades físicas
de um bairro, mas também os valores impregnados no seu contexto citadino e
principalmente aqueles que se referem às relações simbólicas e históricas.
Convém afirmar, que toda apreciação realizada nesta pesquisa teve como aporte
metodológico a História Oral, por constituir uma ferramenta capaz de incentivar a
transmissões de valores através dos sentimentos e visões que o indivíduo absorve do
mundo. As reflexões foram direcionadas para as principais características e elementos que
atuaram/atuam na concepção e dinâmica do Pontal da Barra fomentadora da identidade e
ressaltada nos relatos e percepção dos sujeitos: o morador considerando os idosos
residentes no local (por tratarem as experiências vividas como fonte de enriquecimento das
relações contemporâneas), a sua história e a sua vida social. Diante de toda análise
realizada expõem-se que a identidade do bairro, caracterizou-se tanto pela forte presença
dos elos afetivos, nas relações com a paisagem, quanto na produção do espaço social e
histórico mesmo com a inserção de novos significados e valores. Assim, a partir desse
descortinar as várias histórias de pontalenses, também foi possível demonstrar a forte
valoração desses moradores com o lugar, pois é introduzir-se no mundo do ser vizinho, do
ser amigo, do ser pontalense que se entendeu e identificou a essência de suas
singularidades e é claro, de sua identidade.
Esta dissertação expande os referenciais já existentes tanto no que se refere à história do
lugar, como a identificação de seus elementos singulares, apresentando ainda relevantes
informações acerca de quem vive, se relaciona e formar e pertence a este lugar.
