Utöver detta genomförde vi 4st kvalitativa intervjuer med idrottslärare som hade erfarenhet från alla de ovan nämnda undervisningsformerna.Våra resultat i studien visar att både pojkar och flickor föredrar särundervisning som undervisningsform. 73 % av pojkarna och 84 % av flickorna hade valt särundervisning om de själva fått välja undervisningsform. Vidare framgår det att det är framförallt flickor som påverkas negativt av samundervisning. Anledningen tordes vara att idrotten är ett typiskt manligt ”fält” och att pojkarna med sina intressen och förkunskaper har stora fördelar under idrottsundervisningen. Detta i sin tur kan leda till att flickorna hamnar i skymundan i samundervisningssituationer. Lärarna ansåg att det fanns för och nackdelar med båda undervisningsformerna vilket leder oss inpå studier gjorda av Marita Eklund (1999) & Larsson & Redelius (2004) vilka visar att en undervisning där man har tillgång till båda undervisningsformerna är något som ofta efterfrågas av idrottslärare.Nyckelord: samundervisning, särundervisning, idrott och hälsa, högstadiet / Abstract The use of the study was to investigate the teachers and the pupils view on the different forms of tutoring (boygroups, girlgroups and mixed gender groups) in physical education. We also wanted to know which form of tutoring that is preferred by teachers and pupils.Our question formulations were:-What do the pupils think of single-sex versus mixed gender tutoring?-What do the teachers think of single-sex versus mixed gender tutoring?-How does the different tutoring forms affect boys and girls?-Does the tutoring forms affect the grades?The data was collected in form of a quantitative question survey on 114 pupils distributed on 37 boys in boy groups, 43 girls in girl groups and 34 girls and boys in mixed gender groups. In excess of the question survey we also did interviews with four physical education teachers who all had experience from teaching the different tutoring forms. Our result in the study shows that both boys and girls prefer single-sex tutoring in physical education. 73 % of the boys and 84 % of the girls chooses single-sex tutoring if they would have the chance to make their own pick. The study shows that it’s mainly girls who are affected negatively of mixed gender tutoring. The reason could be that physical education is a masculine “field” and the boys have certain benefits with their interests and knowledge. This can lead to that the girls could be overlooked in the mixed gender classes.The teachers thought that both tutoring forms had positive and negative aspects which lead us to the studies of Marita Eklund (1999) and Larsson & Redelius (2004) which shows that teachers would appreciate educational possibilities were they could use both single-sex and mixed gender tutoring depending on the certain situation.Keywords: Physical education, mixed gender education, Single-sex education
