Det finns en kritik kring den flerbostadsarkitektur som byggs idag där många hellre bor i äldre lägenheter än nyproduktion. Detta syns inte minst i bostadsannonser och drivs väldigt hårt av Arkitektupproret där sekelskiftarkitektur framställs som en utopi. Detta kan kopplas samman till samhällets avsaknad av kunskap och intresse för det som jag kallar ”bostadens egen arkitekturskala”. Bostadsarkitekturen har idag i stor utsträckning reducerats till en stadsmässig och en inzoomad skala där en byggnads plats i staden och områdets kvaliteter tillsammans med säljande bilder med snygga designmöbler ofta får representera dagens bostad. Samtidigt utelämnas lägenhetens egna kvaliteter och upplevda värden som till exempel långa siktlinjer och rörelsemönster. Kan vi som arkitekter förändra detta med hjälp av arkitekturen vi ritar och genom vårt arbetssätt? I ett försök att svara på denna fråga har jag ritat ett flerbostadsprojekt på en tomt på Gärdet i Stockholm med utgångspunkt i fem arkitektoniska begrepp. Dessa har fått agera utgångspunkt och riktmärke i utformandet av lägenhetstyper vilka sedan har sammanfogats till tre byggnader i en inifrån- och ut process. Genom att rita ett specifikt projekt med hjälp av denna metod har jag försökt hitta ett nytt förhållningssätt till arkitektens roll. / There is a strong criticism towards the residential architecture of Sweden today were newly developed projects are being rejected by most in favour of housing from the early 1900s. This can be connected to a general lack of knowledge and interest in what I have chosen to call “the architecture scale of the residence”. Today, residential architecture has been largely reduces to an urban and a zoomed in scale. It is now represented by the qualities of the area where it is being built as well as staged and rendered images with design furniture. Meanwhile the qualities of the apartments them selfs, such as lines of sight or movement patterns are being neglected. What can we as architects do about this? I have tried to answer this question by drawing a residential project on a plot in Gärdet in Stockholm. The project is based on five architectural concepts which have been the guidelines and the focus of the entire project. By constructing a specific project using this method I have tried to find a new approach to the role of the architect.
