Previous issue date: 2011-12-20 / In recent years, the biosafety has been made possible a new look which are based the conceptions of health and illness process, as well as human needs. This new vision is focused on health vigilance that is referenced specifically in this study to the worker s health. The health of workers is essential for the prevention and control of epidemics and outbreaks of diseases as well as emerging and reemerging diseases. The present study wants to show the importance of biosafety measures for health workers, showing them through the concepts in their daily work. It is also to direct the use of biosafety measures in the care of oncology and hematology patients care, because of its infection susceptibility. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the conceptions of health workers in the biosafety pratice to the patients in oncological and hematological treatment in an oncological institution in Natal / RN, as well as make a socio-demographic profile of these workers and to know their difficulties to adequate biosafety measures. METODOLOGIA: The research is exploratory descriptive with qualitative approach, using the technique of oral history. The use of this technique is justified for the possibility of analyze the conceptions of health workers in the face of biosafety measures. From the definition of analysis categories that have emerged in the study. The categories were: daily work, education, occupational risk and onco-hematological care. The research population was the health workers who provide care to patients in oncological and hematological treatment. The study was conducted in the League against Cancer, in Natal / RN, specifically in the unit Luiz Antonio Hospital. Data collections were conducted from June to August of 2011 and were interviewed sixteen employees who assist in oncology and hematology. Structured interviews were conducted in three shifts, given the prospects of expanding the possibilities of analysis of the biosafety concepts. After data collection, the interviews were analyzed qualitatively by the technique of oral history. This genre, thematic oral history is a modern resource used for preparation of documents, files and studies concerning the social experience of people and groups with the construction of a script prior to the interview moment (MEIHY, 2002). ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION: It was made a reflection about the concepts and practices of professionals who take care of patients in oncology and hematology as well as its relation to biosafety measures. The speech of employees revealed that the adoption has been very supportive of these standards, although some have been highlighted gaps in the understanding of employees in relation to biosafety and the proposed categories. CONCLUSION: The analysis of information showed that biosafety has been cited by employees as an immeasurable benefit to safety and occupational health. And the strengths marks in their understanding were: the excellence of care and safety in occupational diseases risk reduction and infections resulting from their work activities, despite some difficulties in adopting appropriate biosafety standards / Nos ?ltimos anos, a biosseguran?a vem possibilitando um novo olhar, no qual s?obaseadasas concep??es do processo sa?de e doen?a, bem como as necessidades humanas. Essa nova vis?o est? voltada para a vigil?ncia em sa?de,essa referenciada, especificamente neste estudo, para a sa?de do trabalhador, a qual ? essencial paraa preven??o e controle das epidemias e surtos de agravos e doen?as emergentes e reemergentes. O presente estudo pretende mostrar a import?ncia das medidas de biosseguran?a para os trabalhadores em sa?de, evidenciando-as atrav?s das concep??es no seu cotidiano de trabalho. Direcionam-se tamb?m para o uso das medidas de biosseguran?a na assist?ncia a pacientes em tratamento onco-hematol?gico, devido ? susceptibilidade dessa clientela as infec??es.OBJETIVOS: Analisar as concep??es dos trabalhadores em sa?de frente a pr?tica de biosseguran?a a pacientes em tratamento onco-hematol?gico, em uma institui??o especializada em oncologia em Natal/RN, bem como tra?ar um perfil s?cio demogr?fico desses trabalhadores e conhecer as dificuldades deles na pr?tica adequada das medidas de biosseguran?a.METODOLOGIA: A pesquisa ? explorat?ria descritiva com abordagem qualitativa, utilizando-se a t?cnica de hist?ria oral tem?tica, justificando o uso destapela possibilidade de analisar as concep??es dos profissionais de sa?de frente ?s medidas de biosseguran?a. A partir da delimita??o de categorias de an?lises emergentes no estudo. As categorias estudadas foram: cotidiano de trabalho, educa??o, risco ocupacional e assist?ncia onco-hematol?gica. A popula??o da pesquisa foram os trabalhadores de sa?de que prestam assist?ncia a pacientes em tratamento onco-hematol?gico. O estudo foi realizado na Liga Contra o C?ncer, Natal/RN, especificamente na unidade Hospital Luiz Ant?nio. A coleta de informa??es foi realizada no per?odo de junho a agosto de 2011, e foram entrevistados dezesseis colaboradores que prestam assist?ncia na cl?nica onco-hematol?gica. As entrevistas estruturadas foram realizadas nos tr?s turnos de trabalho, em face das perspectivas de amplia??o das possibilidades de an?lise das concep??es de biosseguran?a. Ap?s coleta das informa??es, seguiram-se as an?lises das entrevistas, as quais foram analisadas de forma qualitativa com a t?cnica da hist?ria oral tem?tica. Esse g?nero, tem?tica da hist?ria oral ? um recurso moderno usado para elabora??o de documentos e arquivamentos e estudos referentes ? experi?ncia social d e pessoas e de grupos com a constru??o de um roteiro pr?vio para o momento das entrevistas (MEIHY, 2002). AN?LISES DAS INFORMA??ES: Faz-se uma reflex?o quanto ?s concep??es e pr?ticas dos profissionais que assistem pacientes na cl?nica onco-hematol?gica e sua rela??o com as medidas de biosseguran?a, tendo constatado, a partir das falas dos colaboradores, que a ado??o foi muito favor?vel a essas normas, embora tenham sido evidenciadas algumas lacunas existentes na compreens?o dos colaboradores em rela??o ? biosseguran?a e ?s categorias propostas. CONSIDERA??ES FINAIS: Constata-se, com as an?lises das informa??es, que a biosseguran?a foi citada pelos colaboradores como benef?cio imensur?vel na seguran?a e sa?de do trabalhador, e tendo como pontos fortes na compreens?o deles, a excel?ncia da assist?ncia e a seguran?a na redu??o dos riscos de doen?as ocupacionais e infec??es decorrentes de suas atividades laborais, apesar de algumas dificuldades para ado??o adequada ? normas de biosseguran?a
