Orientador: Tânia Suely Antonelli Marcelino Brabo / Banca: Graziela Zambão Abdian / Banca: José Sérgio Fonseca de Carvalho / Resumo: O objetivo da pesquisa é identificar e analisar o conceito de cidadania presente nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (em especial o PCN de História) voltados para o terceiro e quarto ciclo do Ensino Fundamental e no imaginário da professora de História, da direção, da coordenação e dos (as) alunos (as), com o propósito de averiguar qual o conceito de cidadania ou como é concebida e desenvolvida a educação para a cidadania numa escola pública estadual de Marília (SP). Perfilhou-se como metodologia a pesquisa qualitativa estruturada por meio do estudo de caso etnográfico, o que levou a uma presença constante na escola. Além do mais, foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas que contribuíram para a compreensão da visão da Diretora, Vice-Diretora e Coordenadora a respeito dos PCN's e, no caso da professora, sobre o papel da disciplina de História para a formação do indivíduo além de esquadrinhar a contribuição ou não dos saberes escolares para a educação naquele universo escolar. Em relação aos PCN's, os mesmos foram analisados à luz do contexto histórico, na perspectiva de conhecer e desvelar a política educacional no momento de produção deste documento. No período estudado, houve a implementação da nova Proposta Curricular do Estado de São Paulo, sendo necessário considerar o processo de reestruturação do currículo escolar, que erigiu nova postura não só da gestão da escola, mas também do trabalho em sala de aula. Os dados obtidos ao longo da pesquisa permitiram visualizar os processos de rupturas, permanências e contradições, presentes no cotidiano escolar, contrapondo, assim, percepções e práticas em relação à cidadania, democracia e currículo na sociedade moderna / Abstract: The survey's objective is to identify and analyze the concept of citizenship included in the National Curricula Parameters - PCN - (specially the PCN of History) directed to the third and fourth cycle of the primary education and in the history teacher, principal, coordinator and students' imaginary; with the purpose of finding out which concept of citizenship or how the education of citizenship is conceived and developed in one public school located in Marília (SP). It has adopted as methodology the qualitative survey structured by ethnographic study case, which required frequent attendance at the school. Moreover, there were semi-structured interviews that contributed to the comprehension of Principal, Vice-Principal and the Coordinator's vision regarding the PCNs and, in the case of the teacher, about the History discipline's role to the formation of the individual further than scanning the contribution or not to the academic knowledge to the education in that school environment. Regarding the PCNs, the same were analyzed through historical context, in the perspective of knowing and revealing the educational policy at the moment this document is produced. In the studied period, there was the implementation of the new Curriculum Proposal of São Paulo State, being necessary to consider the process of restructuring of the academic curriculum; this erected a new posture not only from the school's administration, but also the work in the classroom.
