The purpose of the study is to investigate how sports associations work with environmental and sustainable development in their work to reduce climate impact. To fulfill the purpose, these questions were used in the study; How do responsible leaders in sports associations work and think about environmental and sustainable development? What is the awareness of the environmental impact in the current situation within the sports association? What does the future hold regarding environmental and sustainable development within the sports association? The study uses a qualitative research method of interviews with the support of an interview guide and the theoretical perspective "institutionalization". In summary, the results of this study show that the sports associations have made changes to society's environment and sustainability, regardless of whether they have been aware or not. It appears that the respondents from the sports associations have not had enough resources or finances to develop towards a more sustainable and climate-smart work. The results show that the concept of environment and sustainability is important in order to be able to maintain the earth's resources for our next generation through commitment, cooperation and education.
