Previous issue date: 2007-09-19 / This thesis approaches the parent s experiences who possess children
with disability and the necessity of rethinking the social inclusion
concerning to those parents. Its aim is to know a little bit more their daily
life in relation to the disability and its complexities, to describe the features
of this kind of family, to discuss the prejudice towards their children, to
criticize the citizenship role upon inclusive education, to analyse the
procedures and the data obtained from our research. One starts from a
psychosocial approach in order to understand better all those discutions
which are defined by parents reports and testimonies. This work talks about
parents role and their relations to the prejudice, to the inclusive education
and to the citizen ship, which are issues directly related to the disability. The
interviews extracted from the parents testimonies show us their life stories,
and they allow us to conclude that if there is a greater participation in social
life, considering that if the parents will be included in social policies, so will
be their children. The theoretical discussion precedes the testimonies, and
those ones supplement it. The testimonies describe the families reality, and
the theories serves to demonstrate that the preoccupation towards the social
inclusion should not only concern to the children, but also to the parents,
since they constitute once for all the nucleus in which the person with
disability develops itself. Despite of considering the school as a unit of social
inclusion, this work intends to highlight the importance in starting an
inclusive task which involves the parents, so that it can provide some support
in their struggle against disability / Esta tese aborda as experiências de pais que possuem filhos com
deficiência e a necessidade de repensar a inclusão social desses mesmos
pais. Tem como objetivo, conhecer um pouco mais de seu cotidiano em
relação à deficiência e suas complexidades, descrever as características
desse tipo de família, discutir ainda o preconceito que recai também sobre os
filhos, problematizar a cidadania em relação à educação inclusiva, analisar
os procedimentos e os dados obtidos em nossa pesquisa. Partimos de uma
abordagem psico-social para darmos conta dessas discussões que são
caracterizadas pelos relatos e depoimentos dos pais. O trabalho discute o
papel dos pais e suas relações com o preconceito, a educação inclusiva e a
cidadania que são questões diretamente relacionadas aos pais e à
deficiência. As entrevistas com os pais refletem suas histórias de vida e nos
permite concluir que se houver uma maior participação deles nas políticas
sociais, considerando que, se os pais forem também inclusos, haverá
também maior inclusão de seus filhos. A discussão teórica precede os
depoimentos, e esses últimos a complementam. Os depoimentos descrevem a
realidade dessas famílias, e a teoria procura demonstrar que a preocupação
com a inclusão social não deve ter como foco somente os filhos, mas de
maneira similar os pais, uma vez que estes constituem, primeira e
definitivamente, o núcleo no qual a pessoa com deficiência se desenvolve.
Apesar de comumente se pensar a escola como unidade de inclusão social,
esse trabalho pretende evidenciar a importância de se iniciar um trabalho
inclusivo que abarque os pais, de forma a fornecer-lhes algum suporte no
seu enfrentamento com a deficiência
