Fenomenografisk analys av engelsklärares upplevelser : Engelsklärares arbete med digitala verktyg

This study aims to get a better understanding of English teachers’ experiences regarding their work with digital aids and tools with a focus on language management programs. The data consists of semi-structured interviews conducted with teachers of English in Sweden. By analysing the material with a phenomenographic method the major findings show that all teachers observed a need concerning the introductions of digital programs for their students. They all experienced difficulties regarding the rules and regulations during tests and described the test situations as ‘unreal’. Their student’s motivation and their ability to adapt practices to each individual student is seen as something positive. The teachers do however believe that the digital tools also could affect the students negatively by offering too much help or other distractions. The majority of the teachers feel ‘competent enough’ but some experience discomfort when dealing with certain digital situations. No one of the participating teachers has received any training or instructions in working with digital tools and programs, but all report that every problem gets solved among colleagues.
