The purpose of this study was to examine the experiences of a sample of people taking part in the activities of Friskvården i Värmland with regards to their completed cycle fitness tests. The study seeks to answer the questions: Why did the interviewees choose to perform the cycle fitness test at Friskvården i Värmland? How do the interviewees feel that their completed cycle fitness tests affect their motivation to go through a behavioral change? The method used for the gathering of the data was qualitative scientific interviews made separately with each interviewee. The group of interviewees consisted of seven people. The results of the study showed that some of the interviewees wanted to perform the cycle fitness test to assess their current level of fitness. Others meant that they performed the cycle fitness test because of health related matters. That is, to assess their current level of fitness and put it in perspective to their health. The results also showed that all of the interviewees were motivated by the cycle fitness test in their behavioral change but to varying degrees. The interviewees appreciated the clear assessment of their fitness that they got from the test. It made it easier to monitor their development as they changed their behaviour. Some found it motivational to try to beat their previous score. All though the test probably would not have been as effective if it had not been accompanied by the health interview, also performed at Friskvården i Värmland. The interviewees meant that these have different but complementing functions and they are both perceived as necessary in their behavioral change.
