Previous issue date: 2002 / Resumo: O estudo objetiva investigar a construção dos saberes docentes e discentes em um projeto sobre ensino de Estatística com turmas de 6a série, a partir da seguinte questão orientadora: Como professores e alunos de 6a série de escolas pública e privada interagem e constroem saberes em um projeto de estatística? Inicialmente, apresenta-se um estudo das Propostas Curriculares para o Ensino Fundamental; de livros didáticos e paradidáticos que abordam o tema Estatística e das Teses e Dissertações sobre Ensino de Estatística; além de se discorrer sobre aspectos do Ensino de Estatística, de Educação e de Educação Matemática. As atividades de ensino aprendizagem são realizadas com duas turmas de 6a série: uma da rede pública estadual e outra da rede particular, ambas do município de Campinas. O estudo apresenta a descrição dos encontros ocorridos nas duas escolas; os diálogos estabelecidos entre aluno-aluno e alunos-professora; o projeto de pesquisa estatística realizada pelos alunos em ambas as turmas; o processo de tabulação dos dados e confecção de tabelas e gráficos por parte dos alunos; as produções dos alunos com o objetivo de divulgar os resultados obtidos na pesquisa escolar. Os dados da investigação foram coletados por intermédio de diário de campo, de gravações em áudio e vídeo, entrevistas com alunos e com as professoras auxiliares de pesquisa, além das produções escritas dos alunos, sendo analisadas em duas categorias: 1. O processo de produção e elaboração dos conhecimentos pelos alunos e 2. O processo de produção de conhecimentos pedagógicos e profissionais pela professora. Estas duas categorias foram permeadas por outras transversais: a mediação e os encontros de professora e alunos durante o trabalho pedagógico e os aspectos socioculturais presentes em todo o processo investigativo. Com as análises, alguns aspectos emergiram. Destacam-se os conhecimentos matemáticos trabalhados durante a investigação, entre eles: cálculo de porcentagem; cálculo com graus; gráficos e tabelas. Também a importância da interação entre alunos nas tarefas realizadas em grupo e nas negociações coletivas, na interação com a professora, proporcionando uma melhor compreensão dos procedimentos matemáticos e estatísticos; auxiliando o aluno a verbalizar o que pensa; a representar matematicamente as suas idéias. Tudo isso contribui para o desenvolvimento do raciocínio, a flexibilidade do pensamento matemático e o desenvolvimento da linguagem matemática / Abstract: This study investigates the building of both teachers¿ and students¿ knowledge in a project concerning Statistics teaching with 6th grade students. It was held based on the following research question: How do teachers and students of the 6th grade in public and private schools build their knowledge in a Statistics project? Firstly a study is presented related to the ¿Propostas Curriculares para o Ensino Fundamental¿ (an official Brazilian document for Education), course books and reading books which approach Statistics themes as well as thesis and dissertations on Statistics Teaching, besides covering aspects of Statistics, Education and Math Education teaching. The teaching/learning activities are carried with two groups of 6th graders: one at a state public school and the other one at a private school, both in the city of Campinas. The study presents the description of the classes carried in both schools: the dialogues established between student/student and students/teacher; the Statistics research project performed by the students in both groups; the data tabulation process as well as the production of charts and graphs by the students; the students¿ papers relating the school research results The investigation data were collected through diaries, audio and video recordings, and interviews with students and research assistant teachers, besides the students¿ written productions, being then analyzed in two categories: 1. The knowledge production and elaboration process by the students and 2. The teacher¿s production process concerning pedagogic and professional knowledge. These two categories were crossed by other elements: the mediation and the encounters between the teacher/students during the educational work and the social and cultural aspects involved throughout the investigation process. With the analysis some aspects came to light. The Math knowledge worked during the investigation can be detached, and more specifically: percentage calculation; calculations with degrees; graphs and tables. It is also important to mention the importance of the interaction among students in the tasks performed in groups and in the group negotiations, in the interaction with the teacher, providing a better comprehension of the Math and Statistics procedures, helping the student in terms of verbalizing what he thinks, representing his ideas mathematically. These events contribute for the thinking development, the flexibility of the Math thinking and the Math language development / Mestrado / Ensino, Avaliação e Formação de Professores / Mestre em Educação
