Previous issue date: 2017-07-18 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This dissertation turns to the influence of the Manguebeat Movement in the process of identity and consumption in the current cultural scene of Recife. This Movement manifested itself in the 1990s and had great national and international repercussions, surprising the music market and other cultural spheres because of its cultural diversity. This research has an exploratory characteristic, through the identification of the collection on the Movement, researches of films, documentaries, newspapers, magazines, photographs, museums, foundations, internet and discography and field research. In addition, actors were interviewed both of the Mangue Scene and the Post-Mangue Scene. This researches subsidized our research in order to meet the problem proposed for this reflection, which revolves around the forms of articulation between consumption and identity from cultural products. The work is subdivided into three chapters, the first dealing specifically with the Manguebeat Movement and the "cultural scene" of Recife with a reflection from the center-periphery relation; The
second, on identity and consumption and its relation in the cultural scene of the Post-
Mangue Recife, and the third, lastly, is the space in which the field analyzes that serve our object of study are presented. Among the results obtained on this process, it is highlighted that there is still a strong and symbolic identity, but in constant modifications and despite the difficulties that the alternative scene of Recife has in the dissemination of it by the local media, it happens due to the resistance of the cultural production itself that diffuses it and that if it were not that way they would still be in the margin erasing from Pernambuco history the importance and consequences of the Movement. And that is why perhaps Recife is still a reference of consumption and identity due to cultural diversity and this symbolic resistance. We give as a closing process in this work with the attachments and appendices. / Esta dissertação se volta a compreender a influência do Movimento Manguebeat no processo de formação da identidade e consumo na atual cena cultural do Recife. Tal Movimento se manifestou nos anos 1990 e teve grande repercussão nacional e internacional, surpreendendo o mercado da música e outras esferas culturais por sua diversidade cultural. A pesquisa tem característica exploratória, através da identificação de acervo sobre o Movimento, pesquisas de filmes, documentários, jornais, revistas, fotografias, museus, fundações, internet e discografia e na pesquisa de campo. Além disso, foram entrevistados atores tanto da Cena Mangue quanto do Pós-Mangue. Este levantamento subsidiaram a nossa pesquisa com objetivo de atender ao problema proposto para esta reflexão, que gira em torno das formas de articulação entre consumo e identidade a partir de produtos culturais. O trabalho está subdividido em três capítulos, o primeiro trata especificamente do Movimento Manguebeat e a “cena cultural” de Recife sob a reflexão a partir da relação centroperiferia; o segundo, sobre identidade e consumo e sua relação na cena cultural do Recife Pós-Mangue e o terceiro, por fim, é o espaço em que são apresentadas as análises de campo que atendem ao nosso objeto de estudo. Entre os resultados obtidos sobre este processo, destaca-se que ainda existe uma identidade forte e simbólica, mas em constantes modificações e apesar das dificuldades que a cena
alternativa do Recife tem na divulgação dela pela mídia local, ela acontece devido à resistência da própria produção cultural que a difunde e que se não fosse dessa forma ainda estariam na margem apagando da história pernambucana a importância e as consequências do Movimento. E é por isso que talvez Recife ainda seja referência de consumo e de identidade por conta da diversidade cultural e por essa resistência simbólica.
