Syfte: Syftet med detta arbete är att beskriva huruvida examensarbetet bidrar med färdighet och kompetens inför arbetslivet. Syftet är att bredda kunskapen kring vad examensarbetet bidrar till och att bidra med underlag för diskussioner kring examensarbetets uppbyggnad och dess samverkan med näringslivet. Metod: Vår studie har genomförts med en abduktiv ansats där en forskare var informant och lade grunden för den empiriska insamlingen. Studien grundar sig i tre olika perspektiv: Ekonomihögskolans, alumners och arbetslivets perspektiv. För att öka förståelsen kring perspektiven och examensarbetets integration med arbetslivet användes ett kvalitativt tillvägagångssätt. Datainsamlingen skedde genom intervjuer med tre olika respondentgrupper som motsvarade varsitt perspektiv. I studien har vi även tagit hänsyn till möjliga felkällor samt etiska aspekter. Slutsats: I vår studie framkommer det att alumner till viss del fått de kompetenser som Ekonomihögskolan förklarar att de ska ha fått av examensarbetet. De kompetenser som framkommit att alumner ska få eller har fått från examensarbetet är självständighet,samarbete, kommunikation, kritiskt tänkande samt strukturering och planering. Rekryterarna anser att examinerade har en del av de kompetenserna, men en slutsats kan inte dras kring om kompetenserna är en följd av examensarbetet enligt rekryterarna.Självständighet är en av de kompetenser som rekryterarna uppskattar. Enligt alumnerna i studien och enligt forskaren Ola Svärd har examensarbetet inte nödvändigtvis bidragit tillsjälvständighet. De övriga kompetenserna examensarbetet ska eller har genererat kan enligt rekryterarna ses som personliga egenskaper alla kan besitta och inte bara examinerade, men examinerade har arbetat med kompetenserna nyligen vilket kan vara till deras fördel. / Purpose: The purpose of this work is to describe whether the degree project contributesknowledge and skills for working life. The purpose is to broaden the knowledge aboutwhat the degree project contributes to and to provide a basis for discussions about the structure of the degree project and its interaction with the business community. Method: Our study has been carried out with an abductive approach where a researcher was our informant and laid the foundation for the empirical collection. The study is based on three different perspectives: The school of Economics, alumni and the working life perspective. In order to increase the understanding of the perspectives and the integration of the degree project with working life, a qualitative approach was used. Data collection took place through interviews with three different groups of respondents who corresponded to each perspective. In the study, we have also taken into account possible sources of error and ethical aspects. Conclusion: Our study shows that alumni have, to some extent, acquired the competencies that the School of Economics explains that they should have acquired from the degree project. The competencies the study shows that alumni should gain or have gained from the degree project are independence, collaboration, communication, critical thinking along with structuring and planning. The recruiters believe that examinees have some of these skills, but it cannot be concluded that all the skills are a consequence of the degree project according to the recruiters. Independence is one of the competencies that recruiters value. According to the alumni in the study and according to the researcher Ola Svärd, the degree project has not necessarily contributed to independence. According to the recruiters, the other competencies the degree project should or has generated can be seen as personalqualities that everyone can possess and not just examinees, but examinees have worked with the competencies recently, which can be to their advantage
