Using semi-structured interviews, the following study aims to investigate whether young men and women studying at Linnaeus University interpret differences and/or similarities between how they are raised in relation to their older or younger siblings of the opposite or same sex. We also want to understand and create an understanding of how interpreted differences/similarities between siblings in are related to age and gender. We create an understanding of the material with the help of ”dramaturgical perspective” by Goffman. At the same time we try to interpret the differences between siblings by the perspectives of ”doing gender” and ”doing family”. With the help of thematic analysis method we have been able to identify and analyze patterns and themes within the collected data. The results show that there are patterns regarding interpreted differences and/or similarities between how they are raised in relation to their older or younger siblings of the opposite or same sex. The results also show that interpreted differences/similarities between siblings regardning gender and age differs.
