Since 2013, state grants have been paid to pre-service teachers to teachers in pre-school classes, compulsory schools, upper secondary schools and municipal adult education. Leisure educators had not been granted pre-service teacher positions with state grants, however municipalities had invested in pre-service teacher positions for leisure educators with municipal grants. This study was based on qualitative interview studies and aimed to explore leisure-time educators with pre-service teacher experience of their assignment in the school organization. The survey also examined the challenges of supervising educators, integrating teaching and caring for students. Results showed that the pre-service teacher in after-school centers had a role in the school organization and the opportunity to carry out his assignment. The challenges in the assignment were not the management, it was the high staff absenteeism and few trained educators. Which led to further challenges in providing students with education and care to achieve goal fulfillment.
