Written information from municipalities and authorities is often associated with a formal and bureaucratic use of language that many of us can find difficult to understand. This is despite the fact that we in Sweden have a language law that states that the language in public activities must be nurtured, simple and comprehensible. It is a democratic right that everyone should understand all information from our municipalities and authorities. The municipality of Strängnäs works according to the Language Act and follows a number of language preservation guidelines that are commonly called plain language. Despite this, the municipality's residents experience that the municipality's information texts are complicated and difficult to understand as the texts have a formal and bureaucratic use of language. In this thesis, I have with the help of text analyzes, LIX measurements and the Black List analyzed municipality of Strängnäs information texts to show which stylistic problem areas negatively affect the texts 'readability in a broad target group and how the texts' style level can be changed to improve readability. Based on these methods and with support in theories and previous research in readability, stylistics, plain language and terminology, I have designed a plain language recommendation that with advice and examples taken from municipality of Strängnäs information texts will help the municipality's writers to write more readable texts. / Skriftlig information från kommuner och myndigheter förknippas ofta med ett formellt och byråkratiskt språkbruk som många av oss kan tycka är svårt att förstå. Detta trots att vi i Sverige har en språklag som slår fast att språket i offentlig verksamhet ska vara vårdat, enkelt och begripligt. Det är en demokratisk rättighet att alla ska förstå all information från våra kommuner och myndigheter. Strängnäs kommun arbetar efter språklagen och följer ett antal språkvårdande riktlinjer som gemensamt kallas för klarspråk. Trots det upplever kommunens invånare att kommunens informationstexter är krångliga och svåra att förstå då texterna har ett formellt och byråkratiskt språkbruk. I det här examensarbetet har jag med hjälp av textanalyser, LIX-mätningar och Svarta Listan analyserat Strängnäs kommuns informationstexter för att visa vilka stilistiska problemområden som påverkar texternas läsbarhet negativt hos en bred målgrupp och hur texternas stilnivå kan ändras för att på så sätt förbättra läsbarheten. Med avstamp i de här metoderna och med stöd i teorier och tidigare forskning inom läsbarhet, stilistik, klarspråk och terminologi har jag utformat en klarspråksrekommendation som med råd och exempel hämtade ur Strängnäs kommuns informationstexter ska hjälpa kommunens skribenter att skriva mer läsbara texter.
