Previous issue date: 2002-09-30 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research refers to the relation family learning, given that, considered the foundation of
society and start point in the formation of personality, the family has been undergoing changes
in its way of being. If before the matrimony was seen as indissoluble in the eyes of God and
men, now the divorce is accepted as normal by society and it has its own laws to regulate it.
However, as habitual as divorce has become, nowadays, separation of parents brings, at its very
core, consequences and profound changes to all members of the family, being the children the
most affected ones, in particular with respect to the learning process. Therefore, it will be
approached on the theoretical basis the phenomenon of learning: history, theoretical and current
concepts; the role of the school regarding family problems experienced by students and the
importance of the integration family-school. To verify the consequences of separation of parents
on the learning process of students of third grade of basic education, at public schools in João
Pessoa, 15 respondents answered questionnaires with open and non-open questions. The results
indicated that the separation of parents directly influences the learning process and behavior of
students, in addition to emphasizing the importance of family and school bonding. It is
concluded that although the number of students with separated parents is increasing, the school is
not yet prepared to deal with this new reality, it hasn t thoroughly fulfilled its role in the process
of giving support and preparing for life, considering that its function is much more than
transmitting theoretical contents alone. / Esta pesquisa refere-se à relação família - aprendizagem, pois considerada o alicerce da
sociedade e ponto de partida na formação da personalidade a família vem sofrendo alterações na
sua forma de existir. Se antes os laços matrimoniais eram tidos como indissolúveis aos olhos de
Deus e dos homens, hoje temos o divórcio aceito como normal pela sociedade e com leis
próprias para regulá-lo. No entanto, por mais comum que venha sendo sua ocorrência, nos dias
atuais, a separação dos pais traz em seu bojo conseqüências e mudanças profundas para todos os
membros da família, sendo que os mais atingidos são os filhos, principalmente no que concerne a
aprendizagem. Assim abordaremos na fundamentação teórica o fenômeno da aprendizagem:
história, conceitos, teóricos e correntes; o papel da escola frente aos problemas familiares
vivenciados pelos alunos e a importância da integração família escola. Para verificação das
conseqüências da separação dos pais na aprendizagem dos alunos da 3ª série da educação básica,
das escolas públicas de João Pessoa, foram utilizados 15 informantes que responderam
questionários com perguntas abertas e fechadas. Os resultados indicaram que a separação dos
pais influencia diretamente na aprendizagem e no comportamento do aluno, além de ressaltar a
importância da integração família e escola. Conclui-se que embora venha crescendo o número de
alunos com pais separados a escola ainda não está pronta para lidar com esta nova realidade,
ainda não conseguiu na prática realizar seu papel de dar apoio e preparar para a vida, função esta
que vai muito além de transmitir apenas conteúdos teóricos.
