Previous issue date: 2008 / Resumo: Esta dissertação estuda casos de homens e mulheres autuados pela polícia na primeira década da República, na cidade de São Paulo. O objetivo do trabalho é analisar a presença, as atividades e a repressão dos envolvidos através dos inquéritos policiais, processos devadiagem e correspondências da polícia guardados no AESP. Com este material foi possível
acompanhar como diferentes definições de delitos eram acionadas pelos policiais, homens,mulheres, sendo eles réu, vítima ou testemunhas. Os principais interlocutores dos inquéritos polícias eram os homens e isso influenciou muito nas ações policiais e as suspeitas sobre a conduta moral das mulheres envolvidas. Nas interpretações das leis, buscava-se a proteção das meninas virgens, menores de idade para garantir a honestidade das famílias e o decoro público, da mesma forma acusavam os cáftens de corromper essas mulheres para viver da prostituição. No entanto, nas autuações da polícia, as suspeitas e intervenções das autoridades lidavam com diferentes sujeitos e compreensões de honra, liberdade, relacionamentos nem sempre preocupados com a honestidade das famílias e da nação / Abstract: This dissertation studies cases in which men and women were arrested by the police on the first decade of the Republic, on the city of São Paulo. The main objective of this work is to analyze the presence, the activities and the repression of the involved people through the police inquirements, ¿vagrancy¿ records and kept correspondence at the AESP. With this material, it was possible to follow how different definitions of crimes were used by the police officers, men, and women, either they were accused, victim or witnesses. The main speakers of those police inquirements were men, and that have influenced much on the police actions and the suspicious over the moral conduct of the women involved. On interpretation of the law, on seek protection among the young and virgin women to guarantee the family honesty. The same way they have accused ¿cáftens¿ of women corruption to live of prostitution. However, on the police acts, the suspects and the authority intervention handled with different people and honor comprehensions, freedom, relationships not always concerned with the nation family honesty / Mestrado / Historia Social da Cultura / Mestre em História
