Previous issue date: 2006-10-10 / This Master dissertation analyses the aged patient-physiotherapist relationship
through the ageing conception of the physiotherapy students group in the final phase
of the conclusion of the course. This study has tried to verify many dimensions about
the ageing process and the elderly nowadays, as well as it has reflected the
perception of the students about this subjects. We still have searched to analyse the
relation established between elderly and physiotherapist in the therapeutic link
formation, always considering the culture, and verify the participation of the
professional in this relation as active individual to search correct conducts for this
group of patients. For accomplishment of this research of qualitative nature, we have
used five interviews of the students, both sex and age varying between 23 and 30
years old. The students have come from physiotherapy course of the a University
Center in Osasco, and they are in the final phase of the course. We have analyzed
and interpreted the student speak, always with theoretical references of the some
consolidates Anthropology authors, such as Geertz, Mercadante, Beauvoir and
others. We have associated the denied culture of the elderly, it has brought the
elderly just as something biological, feeding the negative stigma that has linked
elderly and disease. It has been verified that contemptuous character that the
students have associated to elderly, it has brought a distorted vision of the aging, it
has made difficult the relationship with the aged and consequently it has become
difficult the adhesion of the patient to physioterapic treatment as well as results, it has
been necessary to change the thought way of the society about ageing, extending
this concept much more than something biological, creating a construction model of
the ageing that can provide a conception more positive to something real such as
elderly / Esta dissertação de Mestrado analisa a Relação Fisioterapeuta-Paciente idoso a
partir da concepção sobre envelhecimento de um grupo de alunos estagiários de
Fisioterapia na fase final de conclusão do curso. O trabalho procura situar as
diversas dimensões que envolvem o processo de envelhecimento e a velhice na
atualidade, bem como refletir sobre a percepção dos alunos em relação a estes
temas. Buscamos ainda analisar as relações que se estabelecem entre o idoso e o
Fisioterapeuta na formação do vinculo terapêutico, tendo sempre com pano de fundo
a cultura, e situar a participação do profissional nesta relação como sujeito ativo na
busca de condutas mais assertivas para este grupo de pacientes. Para realização
desta pesquisa de natureza qualitativa, utilizamos cinco entrevistas de alunos de
ambos os sexos, com idades variando entre 23 e 30 anos, oriundos do curso de
Fisioterapia de um Centro Universitário em Osasco que estão em fase final do curso.
Analisamos e interpretamos as falas dos alunos tendo como referencial teórico,
autores radicados na Antropologia como Geertz, Mercadante, Beauvoir dentre outros
procurando relacionar a cultura de negação da velhice que traz consigo a visão de
envelhecimento puramente biológico alimentando estigma negativo que na maioria
das vezes liga velhice a doenças. Verifica-se que o caráter depreciativo que os
alunos associam a velhice lhes traz uma visão distorcida do envelhecer, dificultando
a relação com o idoso, e conseqüentemente dificultando a adesão do paciente ao
tratamento fisioterápico bem como seus resultados, sendo necessária uma mudança
na maneira de pensar o envelhecimento por parte da sociedade ampliando este
conceito para alem do biológico, criando um modelo de construção do
envelhecimento que proporcione uma concepção mais positiva para algo real que é
a velhice
