Detta är en kvalitativ studie, med hermeneutiskt perspektiv, där syftet är att studera hur individer i en kundorienterad verksamhet påverkas i arbetslivet och privatlivet av att vara flexibel och tillgänglig. Med hjälp av halvstrukturerade intervjuer har vi samlat in vår empiri, intervjuerna har genomförts med säljare eller servicetekniker i en kundorienterad organisation. I studien använder vi Castells nätverksteori och Foucaults maktperspektiv. Castells menar att nätverkssamhället består av tillgången till moderna kommunikationshjälpmedel som underlättar vardagen. Avancerad högteknologisk utrustning låter individen vara uppkopplad dygnet runt. Foucault redogör i sitt maktperspektiv den disciplinära och pastorala makten. Maktrelationer förekommer överallt och påverkar tjänstemännens arbetssituation. Vi tolkar efter genomförda intervjuer att arbetet enligt våra intervjupersoner är uppgiftsbaserat och individualiserat. Vi tolkar också att det inte går att vara flexibel i privatlivet om arbetslivet är flexibelt. Då arbetet är kundorienterat är det svårt för tjänstemännen att vara helt lediga. Vi tolkar att tjänstemännen kan vara tillgängliga tack vare de moderna kommunikationshjälpmedlen, på det vis som Castells beskriver i sin teori. Tjänstemännen upplever att de själva kan styra sin arbetsdag, och därmed vara självstyrda, enligt Foucaults maktperspektiv. Samtidigt upplever att de måste förhålla sig till sina kunders behov, vilket leder till att kundstyrningen blir en del av självstyrningen. / <p>This is a qualitative study with a hermeneutic approach, the aim is to study how individuals in a customer-oriented organization is affected by the work-life to be flexible and accessible. Using semi-structured interviews, we collected our empirical data, interviews have been conducted with salesperson or service-technician in a customer-oriented organization. In this study, we use Castells' network theory and Foucault's perspective of power. Castells argues that the network society consists of access to modern communication tools that make life easier. Advanced high-tech equipment allows the individual to be up-linked around the clock. Foucault describes in his power perspective on disciplinary and pastoral power. Power relations are everywhere and affect officials' work situation. We interpret the interviews conducted the work under our interviewees are task-based and individualized. We also interpret that it is not possible to be flexible in the privacy if the labor life is flexible. When the work is customer-driven, it is difficult for officials to be completely vacant. We interpret that the officials may be available thanks to the modern communication tools, to the way that Castells describes in his theory. Officials feel that they can control their working day, and to be autonomous, as Foucault's perspective of power. At the same time they feel that they must respond to the needs of its clients, which leads the customer management a part of the self-governance.</p><p>Program: Organisations- och personalutvecklare i samhället</p>
