Previous issue date: 2009 / Resumo: O tema da dissertação é a reconstrução da chamada Teoria Crítica da Sociedade por meio da formulação de um modelo de teoria do reconhecimento pelo filósofo e sociólogo alemão Axel Honneth. Para isso, realizou-se a investigação de sua obra a partir da herança daquela tradição desde seu momento inicial, na década de 1930, quando foi fundada por Max Horkheimer e seus colaboradores do Instituto de Pesquisa Social de Frankfurt, passando por suas reformulações e críticas nas décadas subsequentes, das quais as mais destacadas foram as de Jürgen Habermas. Desta forma, foi possível procurar as relações de ruptura e continuidade entre o modelo teórico desenvolvido por Honneth e a tradição teórica à qual ele reivindica filiação. No segundo momento, foi o próprio modelo de Honneth que esteve em pauta, com especial destaque para sua reconstrução da tipologia desenvolvida por Hegel para a idéia de reconhecimento. Este movimento, central para a teoria do reconhecimento, desemboca nas tipologias do reconhecimento (amor, direitos e estima social) e do desrespeito (violência, negação de direitos e desrespeito social), que representam, segundo o autor, relações sociais pautadas por expectativas normativas dos sujeitos envolvidos. Quando estas são descumpridas, é desencadeada uma luta por reconhecimento. Por fim, após a análise da construção do modelo de Honneth, também este foi confrontado com algumas das críticas e objeções que suas idéias levantam, por meio do estudo de seu debate com Nancy Fraser e sua teoria da redistribuição, a fim de abrir perspectivas para uma avaliação mais ampla sobre as possibilidades de reconstrução da Teoria Crítica / Abstract: The theme of this dissertation is the reconstruction of the Critical Theory of Society through the formulation of a model of theory of recognition by the German philosopher and sociologist Axel Honneth. For that, it was made an investigation of his work grounded in the heritage Honneth received from that tradition, as founded in the 1930s by Max Horkheimer and his colleagues of the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, and also in the revisions and critics to Critical Theory in subsequent decades, mainly those of Jürgen Habermas. Thus, it was possible to find the relations of rupture and continuity between the theoretical model developed by Honneth and the theoretical tradition to which he claims affiliation. Later, the model of Honneth itself was the subject of the investigation, with particular emphasis on its reconstruction of the typology developed by Hegel to the idea of recognition. This movement, central to the theory of recognition, leads to the typologies of recognition (love, rights and solidarity) and disrespect (violence, denial of rights and denigration or insult), which represent, according to the author, social relations guided by normative expectations of the subjects involved. When these are disrespected, comes to field a struggle for recognition. Finally, after examining the construction of Honneth's model, this also was confronted with some of the criticisms and objections that their ideas brought to social debates, through the study of his discussion with Nancy Fraser and her theory of redistribution in order to open a debate about the present forms of reconstructing Critical Theory / Mestrado / Teoria Sociológica / Mestre em Sociologia
