A dedicação em período integral à causa religiosa e a força com que combatia os movimentos sociais típicos do início do século XX destacam-se como características fundamentais da personalidade do autor, motivo pela qual se tornou o organizador e condutor do movimento católico. A elaboração do pensamento geográfico do autor fez-se em consonância com as principais idéias provenientes da doutrina cristã e com as transformações políticas, econômicas e sociais que se faziam no Brasil, originando um pensamento político tipicamente brasileiro. A principal finalidade de sua obra foi a restauração da ordem e da autoridade, ideais colocados em risco especialmente após a Proclamação da República. Em busca do restabelecimento dos ideais de monarquia e do modelo católico de sociedade, temas adjacentes se desenvolveram, destacando-se principalmente os de fundo espacial, típicos do pensamento geográfico. Dentre esses temas, destacaram-se a concepção de Estado do autor, as políticas de incentivo à natalidade, a transferência da capital federal, o combate à imigração e a defesa da educação católica. Permeados pela idéia de nacionalismo católico, esses temas correspondiam à necessidade de desenvolver uma nação brasileira, problema histórico, que após a Proclamação da República precisava ser resolvido sob pena de desagregação nacional. Mesmo com a morte prematura do autor, a sua obra e idéias permaneceram com significativo efeito sobre a realidade contemporânea brasileira. A explicação principal para a continuidade do ideal jacksoniano, mesmo admitindo-se as mudanças do movimento católico, encontra... / This work tells about the geographical thoughts about Jackson Figueiredo and tries to unravel the conditions of the elaboration of the author’s speech since his life analysis, the context and the social group he used to represent. The full time dedication to the religious cause and the strength he used to combat against the social movements that were typical in the century XX, stand out as the author’s personality fundamental characteristics, therefore, he became the conductor and organizer of the catholic movement. The elaboration of the author’s geographical thoughts had consonance with the main ideas due to the Christian doctrine and with the political, economical and social transformations that happened in Brazil, beginning a typically Brazilian political thought. The main target of his work was the restoration of the order and authority; ideals were put in risk, especially after the Republic Proclamation. Searching for the reestablishment of the Monarch ideals and the catholic social model, adjacent themes got developed and were standing out, mainly the spatial fund, typical of the geographical thought. Within those themes, the conception of the author’s State, the political birth incentive, the federal capital transference, the combat against the immigration and the catholic education defense, all stood out. Permeated for the catholic nationalism, those themes used to correspond to the necessity of a Brazilian nation development, historical problem that after the Republic Proclamation, it needed to be solved under the national breakdown penalty. Even thought the author’s premature death, his work and ideas remained as a significantly effect about the Brazilian contemporary reality.
