Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain an increased understanding of how emotional work affects the psychosocial work environment within Socialförvaltningen’s child and adolescent care. The aim is also to identify the measures taken to promote a good psychosocial work environment. Method: This study deals with the phenomenon of emotional work and its impact on the psychosocial work environment of child and adolescent care. The starting point of this study is thus qualitative with an abductive research approach. Furthermore, the study has applied a cross-sectional design where the data collection of semi-structured interviews has been used. Conclusion: The results of this study shows that emotional work greatly affects the psychosocial work environment. This study has highlighted various factors that interact with emotional work, which then characterize what efforts are already being taken, and should be taken to promote a good psychosocial work environment. Based on this, we can conclude that the psychosocial work environment is a particularly important part of emotional work, if it is not promoted or maintained, it can instead lead to ill health for the employees.
