This is a qualitative study whose aim was to investigate how primary and secondary school teachers experienced motivation and performance during a forced change. During the pandemic, primary school teachers taught outside the schools with minor adjustments. Teachers who taught at the high school taught remotely. The study's collected data basis using semi-structured interviews. Concepts from the Expectancy Theory, Herzberg's two-factormodel, McClelland's motivation theory served as the study's analysis tools. The result shows that teachers experience a difference in how their motivation and performance is affected by the forced change. The greatest variety of experiences was found among the high school teachers who taught remotely. The technology could be experienced as both inspiring and developing but stressful. Teachers show interest in being able to reflect even more on the concepts of motivation and performance for their professional profession.
